Who's getting one?

I am ready to exchange my 3G for it, but am not quite sure how, because I want to be sure to keep my unlimited data plan from AT&T. There doesn't seem to be a consensus online about how to guarantee you won't lose that plan, so I may just hold off a bit until it's settled.

Looks like a cool phone, though.

AT&T has already announced that you will be able to keep your unlimited data plan if you are currently on it.

My wife and I are both preordering iPhone 5s tonight/tomorrow (whenever they start taking orders).

I believe the time is actually midnight our time.

I've read that you can keep the plan, but that the upgrading process is not too clear at AT&T, so some people are worried about it not going well and losing out on their unlimited data. Like me. LOL.

Also think Apple has backed itself in to a corner with the nano sim and how the separate models only work with specific carriers. Really pigeon holed the unlocked versions... If they will even be avail in the US..

Not anymore. Those who had it before 2010 are grandfathered into the unlimited data plan

Preoders for the iPhone 5 went live at midnight tonight and, true to form, they went like hotcakes. You may remember that it took 22 hours for the iPhone 4S and about 20 hours for the iPhone 4 to sell out of its pre-order, launch-day stock.

The iPhone 5 took just about 60 minutes. Yep. One hour after pre-orders went live tonight, Apple.com shifted shipping expectations from one to two weeks due to the overwhelming demand.

Ugh, who in their right mind would pay $650 (starting), PLUS sim cost,for an unlocked phone to run it on Tmobile????

Apple is screwing everyone with that new dock, coupled with only making the screen taller. What a joke.

We already switched to the shared data plan because it saved us money vs the regular plans. Upgrading my phone will only add $5 or so to my bill every month. That I can handle. $30, no effing way.

I'm not the type that needs to get it at midnight or whatever.

That has nothing to do with hating or loving the iphone. It has to do with fiscal sense..

Nah, I'm pretty happy with my 3gs. The new one is too big, IMO. Plus you have to get all new connectors and peripherals.

And yes, if you are grandfathered into the unlimited data plan you are golden.

The 4 and 4S are on massive discounts with new or upgraded plans. I'm not convinced the 5 is worth the extra couple hundred.
