iPhone 5.....One small step for iPhone, one giant step back from Android. Why anyone would pick these over the Galaxy S3 or RAZR is beyond me. I will give Apple credit though they have built brand loyalty to the point where consumers will overlook their shortcomings and buy blindly however I could see the 5 being the beginning of the fall similar to the Sony PS3. Once the initial hype blows over I could see sales falling far below long term expectations. I am typing this on my Samsung tab 2 10.1, using my Android as my WiFi hotspot using a simple app, one of many things I wouldn't be able to do with an iPhone.

A salesperson trying to tell me the new features on the iphone5 couldn't really come up with any other than a new size and a better camera. The Iphone camera is already amazing so who cares?

Why do you think those phones are better? If you had to sell them against the iPhone, what would you emphasize?

I'm leaning towards iPhone 5 because iPhone 3G was/is really good for me. Plus, I've never had any problems with Apple products, but have had poor products from both Samsung and Motorola. I also don't want a huge phone and, yes, I think the Apple product is better-looking.

Are they getting rid of 3G soon or something?

Well, the MLB AtBat app doesn't work on 3G. So that's the real reason I have to upgrade. Little b@stards.

No, not anytime soon. This is the first LTE iphone which is what a lot of the hubbub is about. The rest of the specs aren't any better than a top shelf droid.

LTE is great if you're a "gotta have it now, I have no patience" kinda person - assuming your carrier has LTE let alone coverage. However, if you can wait a few extra seconds 3G is fine. I don't plan on moving to LTE probably until the 3G network is killed off since I've got the unlimited package w/ VZ.

The only thing that would get me to leave VZ is to move to a GSM network for international travel, but CDMA is still a better overall network in terms of dropped calls and availability.

The next big revolution in cell phone network will be the combination of data (LTE, 3G, etc) and voice (gsm, cdma) into on band. Once that happens and works right the cell phone world will be at piece.

Ack...I meant the iPhone 3G model, not 3G service. Man, I suck today.

Specs are a huge part of it. The top Android phones beat iPhone 5 in pretty much every category. I also prefer Android because I don't have to "jailbreak" my phone to do things like run emulators or to use my phone as a wifi hotspot for free. Apple forces you to do everything Apple and that's not me.
I heard people chatting today about how cool the new iOS 6 turn by turn navigation is. Funny that Android has had this feature forever. The new Apple nav doesn't use Google maps and looks pretty but has been getting killed on functionality and is hands down inferior yet Apple users are fired up over it. I don't get it but hats off to Apple's marketing department. They are incredible. The only reason I could see getting an iPhone 5 over Android is if you prefer the iOS operating system and if you like the synergy of how the iPhone, iPad, MacBook, and all of their products work together which is a valid and good reason.

Yeah, I've seen some of the screenshots from the new maps app...looks like they were taken from Fringe. Weird. Hope they get that fixed.

That's a good point about having a full suite of Apple products. I switched to a Macbook and got an iPad and AppleTV because I liked the iPhone so much.

Things may have advanced to the point where the phones are so advanced that the advantages of the Samsung phone just aren't important to iPhone users. For example, I don't need to create a WiFi hotspot and don't even know what an emulator is. So, for me, an easy-to-use product that is already familiar to me makes sense. But I definitely like the competition...it's certainly leading to some good options for the consumers, like you said.

OT, but is that a dandelion on the Samsung phone? It looks like the glass shattered when someone dropped a rock on it. LOL. Reminds of me when the iPad first came out and Apple had shooting stars or something in the background and when we all turned them on for the first time, we thought they were all scratched.

In early November two big things will be happening.

1. 5 new Nexus devices commemorating the 5 year anniversary of Android will launch. Rumor has it that we will see the first fully quad-core device on Verizon's flagship Nexus Device. Might be called the Galaxy Nexus 2 (made by Samsung).

2. Motorola (Owned by google) will be launching the Droid Razr Maxx HD. 3300mah battery, QHD screen (rivals Super Amoled & Retina), Kevlar shell, gorilla glass screen, & nano water protection.

I will be choosing between those two devices. And will probably take the Nexus. Pure Android annihilates iOS. It hasn't been close for two years now.

And don't even get me started on the incremental cost of owning an iPhone. Most apps are pay apps, and a new dock renders all docks useless without a new adapter.

These iPhone commercials are horrible.

1. If you bend your thumb like this.... we got the phone for you!
2. Ears are different so we give you a new wired headset! This phone if for you.
3. This phone is thin! And the map app we end with is getting panned by everyone including Wozniak! this phone is for you!

My iPhone 5 arrived last night. Very happy with it so far. :)

Used the Maps feature on my commute this morning and thought it was nice and smooth. Granted, it's not a complicated trip, but the functionality was good.

I thought the hotspot was only free on certain phones? I have an Incredible 2, it has that feature but it gives you ominous warnings that always convince me not to try it?

If you are on the new share everything plans, the hotspot usage comes out of your total family data bucket. From what I understand..... There are no additional charges for it anymore.

Except Bugs was always the smarter one, so he'd be ripping down the Apple for the Droid. :D

Do you have the white version or the black version?
