Ryan Phillippe May Join One Of Marvel's Netflix Shows

http://www.cinemablend.com/television/Ryan-Phillippe-May-Join-One-Marvel-Netflix-Shows-71598.html

Ryan Phillippe, with his seemingly eternal youthful looks, seems like the kind of guy who should have played at least two superheroes already in his career, like a Chris Evans five years before Chris Evans. Well it looks like Phillippe might finally be getting his chance to shine in the comic book world, as the actor revealed he has met with Marvel about taking on a role in their burgeoning small screen world over at Netflix. Now it just comes down to figuring out what he’ll be playing.

Phillippe appeared on the The Howard Stern Show today and shared this bombshell, although it’s probably important to note that not everything is set in stone – or Iron – just yet. Here’s how he put it.

"I’m meeting with…Marvel is interested in talking about, like, Netflix. A series, possibly." - Ryan Phillippe

---------------------------------

Just a rumor at this point, but he has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

I own the entire iron fist series, I think it was 17 comics, loved it. It was a hand down from my father. Would love to watch a (good) show based on him.

15 issues (November 1975 – September 1977)

Of course, he then went on to team up with Luke Cage in Power Man and Iron Fist (from issue 50-125). He also had a lot of guest appearances in Black Panther, Daredevil, and Marvel Team-Up.

Then he was in Marvel Comics Presents and Heroes For Hire. He was also a member of the New Avengers (issues 1-34).

I think I own one of the powerman/iron fist comics.

One of mine I have three copies of, it is the first comic sabretooth appeared in I believe. When I was 14 it was valued at over $200.

Nice. I have Amazing Spider-Man #129 - first appearance of The Punisher. I really should get it graded. I've seen it valued up into the thousands depending on the quality. I also have a lot of other comics from that same era, including most of X-Men from about #100 on. Early Daredevil as well.

This makes sense. He only signed a one year contract for Secrets and Lies and is not coming back. This makes sense why. After seeing how Netflix handled Daredevil....bring it on.

Marvel Hasn’t Cracked The Iron Fist Series Yet

http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2015/07/02/marvel-hasnt-cracked-the-iron-fist-series-yet

The Marvel Netflix universe is in full swing - Daredevil season 2 has been in pre-production for a little while and I think they may have even started shooting some stuff, while Jessica Jones (they lost the AKA) is very far along. Luke Cage is in the writing stage, and I understand they have more than half the season broken and are working on scripts. But what about Iron Fist?

What I'm hearing is that Marvel still hasn't decided what the direction of the show will be. They've brought in a lot of people to pitch and have been having a lot of discussions, but so far nothing has stuck. My understanding is that one of the big hold-ups is the mystical element, with lots of different opinions on just how much weird wuxia to bring into the show. I don't know if there are other arguments about the race of the character, although I do hope they're considering how to best proceed with that.

In the comics, Danny Rand is Iron Fist, and he is more than just a kick-ass martial artist. He trained with the mystical masters of the hidden city of K'un Lun (which appears on Earth once every ten years) and gained the power of the Iron Fist - he can channel all of his body's chi into his fist, which allows him to hit with superhuman strength, and which gives his fist a cool glow. This is what sets Iron Fist apart from, say, Shang-Chi, Master of Kung-Fu, who has no actual powers.

Aside from the Daredevil series this was the series I was most anticipating. Disappointing if they go the movie route rather then the way it was original planned.

‘Marvel’s Iron Fist’ on Netflix Still Going Ahead as Planned

http://collider.com/marvel-iron-fis...utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=collidersocial

Wherever this article finds you within your binging of Marvel’s Jessica Jones on Netflix, part of you might be wondering just where all the news is for one of the comic book company’s other Defenders, Iron Fist. The last time we reported on any news out of the Living Weapon’s camp, it was to lump it together with the loose schedule of Marvel’s other TV series. When Krysten Ritter was announced as Jessica Jones, with Mike Colter set to play Luke cage on Jessica Jones before starring in his own series, fans were left wondering if Iron Fist was still in the works at all.

Thanks to an interview with Marvel Television chief Jeph Loeb, CBR got some good intel on why the TV production wing has kept quiet on Iron Fist and when fans might see their first solid news about the series. While it is still some time away – Jessica Jones just debuted today and we have a full Luke Cage series to look forward to in addition to the second season of Daredevil – Iron Fist provides the last necessary piece of the puzzle that will be Marvel TV’s Defenders series.

So even though there was a rumor that Iron Fist was being scrapped/shelved/delayed, or what have you, simply because things were quiet on the news front, Loeb confirms that this is not the case:

“There was a lot of speculation about what was going on with ‘Iron Fist,’ because [fans] hadn’t heard anything about it, but there’s never been any change at all.”

It Sounds Like Marvel And Netflix Have Already Cast Iron Fist

http://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/sounds-marvel-netflix-cast-iron-fist/

For a while, rumours pointed to Marvel and Netflix scrapping Iron Fist after they had failed to find the right creative direction to take the character in. Thankfully, there ended up being no truth to those reports and a showrunner was finally appointed late last year, but we haven’t heard anything solid about the highly anticipated series since.

Well, it seems as if that might be about to change. During a recent interview, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage star Mike Colter confirmed that Iron Fist has already been cast:

“The actor has been cast, but he’s in a basement somewhere. When the time is right, they’ll let him up and tell him where he is. I am [excited]. I’ll get a nice little break, after doing Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Whether I’m in [his show], I don’t know, but there’s The Defenders.”

‘Game Of Thrones’ Finn Jones Is Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’

http://heroichollywood.com/rumor-is-game-of-thrones-finn-jones-marvels-iron-fist/

Marvel & Netflix upcoming Iron Fist series is gearing up to go into production but beyond learning that Scott Buck would be the showrunner, details have been fairly scarce. Primarily when it comes to who will be the series leading man and final member of The Defenders. However, there is a new rumor today that could point towards a certain Game Of Thrones actor having landed that role. According to The Hashtag Show, who have had some reliable info on Marvel TV casting in the past, their sources are telling them that Finn Jones is Marvel’s Iron Fist.

UPDATE: Entertainment Weekly has now been confirmed that Jones has indeed landed the role and will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as their Iron Fist.

I had forgotten about Shang chi! Loved those comics. Was big iron fist fan too.

I will temper expectations on this one. Looks like it could be cool but I was a tad disappointed in Luke Cage. What is interesting is aside from the martial arts, his abilities sound very familiar. Enhanced strength, speed, stamina, durability, agility, reflexes and senses. Plus the trailer likes to show him punching stuff like we have seen before.

Hope it's really good. Just not going to get overly excited yet.

This feels like Batman meets Doctor Strange.

Wealthy heir guy goes and trains martial arts with monks, returns home to a surprised board of directors who thought he was dead, at his parents billion dollar company, Wayn..I mean Rand Industries.

My son was asking me why they made Iron Fist. I told him, in the seventies martial arts was a national phenomena. I remember all the debates in my school about who was the best martial artist. Kids taking karate lessons all over Yuma. Kids practicing with their num chucks, etc. Looking back, it is a wonder Iron Fist did not have more issues. Remember Kareem Abdul Jabbar being a giant karate practitioner. He was in one of the movies, too.
