Ironic! Two big blockbuster deals... and neither one of them 'rumored'

2 pretty big blockbusters so far, with Ray Allen and Zach Randolph changing coasts... but the irony: neither trade, to my knowledge, was ever 'rumored'!

So these 'experts' spent a month telling us about every possible move. They were wrong on every one. And then 2 undiscussed trades blindsided them.

One more reason why we shouldn't swallow published 'rumors' any more.

Yeah, that's the media for us. Happens all the time to every sport, no biggie. Just move on.

Although the Seattle/Boston was rumored earlier today.

Boston needs to get younger.... Ainge, unbelievable! I don't see Ray Allen complimenting Pierce as well as Marion would. It seems like Ainge panicked in a frenzy to please Pierce.

Supposedly Portland is going to buy out Steve Francis's contract. Any interest on a vet. minimum deal?

Portland bought another pick from Philly #30 Koponen. Now they have Sergio Rodriguez, Rudy Fernandez and Peteri Koponen. Weird.

My theory is that they plan to leave Kponen in Europe same as Fernandez. They will have a zillion rookies anyway.

Nobody really believed it when Aigne was saying he did not want to get another young player and was looking for veteran help.

Our problem is that we get lied to so much, we never believe it when someone tells the truth.

The only thing ray allen is going to do is take points away from pierce, they needed a marion more than an allen

well, they weren't going to get a Marion, so they got as good as they could considering the circumstances.

their big three is just as good as any in the East.

OK, it was just you. ;)

Actually I was pleasantly surprised when it seemed like the Celtics wanted Marion, even if it was a pick and an expiring contract.

The Allen deal is harder to evaluate because it certainly seemed like Wally had worn out his welcome in Boston. Was Wally just a cap dump or was he a key asset sought by the Sonics? That was the side of the deal I would not have expected from the Sonics.

You are the one who said you were suprised.

I was suprised because I didn't think Seattle would go for the deal I was told about. Not about Ainge trading the pick for a vet. That was BLATANTLY obvious from the Marion/KG/O'Neal discussions. That pick was gonzo, one way or another.

I caught this suggenstion on RealGM's GS board:

"this could just help facilitate a KG to PHX trade. Remember, all this week the Suns were trying to move into the top 10 of the draft. It is quite possible that we were hired by the Suns to get that top pick. Odds are they wouldn't need to trade Amare to get this done, so it looks like Shawn Marion might be the asset we're trying to get. It would probably be a lot cheaper to try and get Marion as well. Foyle, JazzyCabbages, and Wright should clear Marion's entire salary, and we get a PF perfect for Nellieball. "

So, a three way with GS to get KG here, Marion to GS, BWright, Atl pick, Phx 08 pick + KT to Minn? Somehow.

a division rival is going to help us create a three year dynasty? I don't think so, especially since word out of GS was that they traded Richardson because they couldn't afford both he and Baron.

GS fans seem to think they'll be trading for KG themselves as part of a 2 trade scenario with Minny. 1 trade using the TE they got from Charlotte to take on Minny's bad contracts, trade 2 Ellis, Wright, picks and filler for KG.

Doesn't seem likely since that filler needed would leave them pretty thin.

I don't think they couldn't afford both financially rather than they were fighting for shots so that one, presumably JRich wouldn't be as effective. Marion replacing JRich would balance it out for their team.

they looked pretty damn effective during the last month and half of the season and playoffs. The things that Marion can't do on this team would KILL that team, namely not being able to shoot the three/inability to attack the rim.

But Marion is reputed as being able to defend 1-5, which none on the GS could currently do. Are you telling me they wouldn't fall for that ads?:(

I believe the Sonics are more excited about getting Delonte West than Wally. Sonics were sour on Ridnour and playing Earl Watson/Mike Wilks for big minutes. West get a lot of assists, shoots ok, and plays D. A nice match with the potential Durant/Green/Lewis combo.
