Nope just what was written in the papers and on Internet for all to see.

I have searched high and low and can't find any link supporting this. Let me say I have meet Q and his Mother and I am as big a Q fan as you can find. He and his Mother treated my son and I like family and he worships Q. He is a decent human being, but I think he is just dead wrong here.

He got his guarenteed money last time, If the Cards offered to give him a 4 mil dollar raise without wanting more years is anything but "bush league" IMO. He just lost 8 mil, and maybe his salary isn't guarenteed but it is as close to it as possible. They are not letting him walk anytime soon, that would be a PR nightmare.

Look at it this way Dansby is willing to work without any guarentees. By taking the f-tag and not working on a long term deal isn't he willing to work under the same circumstance?

So you're stating that the alleged "fact" that the Cards made this type of offer to Q was reported, in detail, in the papers and on the internet? If so, care to share the links?

Always remember that salary is not guaranteed. In the NFL it is all about the guaranteed money aka signing bonuses.

Oh I understand that, but Boldin wants to sign five year deals, with five year signing bonuses every other year. I think the fact that the Cards renegotiated his rookie contract 2 years in, with new 5 year signing bonus included, and offered to almost triple his salary without even needing to do so shows they are operating in good faith.

You have been here for and during the whole escapade last season when this was going on. It was openly discussed on here on many occasions all during off season and training camp. Not my fault you dont remember.

Don't misunderstand Shane... I remember well the entire escapade from the beginning to where we sit today. Yet, I don't remember any objective reporting that confirmed any of what Q is claiming... none...

It doesn't matter anyway... For me, regardless of what the offer actually was or was not, I can't get right with Q's juvenile behavior...
Between the lines the man is a warrior... I'll never forget that. But outside the lines, he's proven otherwise...

BOGUS! The Cards approached him about a new contract offering a completely bush league and insulting offer. Which many of you completely fail to recognize of course. Many of you also completely fail to recognize or admit that the Cards made the FIRST offer. Which in and of itself was a huge mistake! Because they did it only further backs Q's comments that promises were made to him. Promises that have yet to be kept.

Its not his fault the team(graves) made promises they couldnt live up to. Nor is it his fault that the team when trying to live up to that promise did it in a piss azzed way that insulted him.

Fitz's contract is irrelevant to the situation. They dont go hand in hand. Thats like saying that if Q got a fair offer from the team to boost his salary (even though he didnt) and he took it that we would have no longer had the $$$ to give Fitz that monster deal. You can't have it both ways stout.

Q was the torch and soul that carried this team for quite some time. He is the sole reason a guy like Edge even considered coming here before $$$ was discussed.

I dont deny that Q is acting like an azz right now. HE MOST CERTAINLY IS! But at least in all of this he has some valid reason to. DD has no excuses whatsoever!

If Boldin badly wants out of here then he should be out of here. He is no where near the threat that Fitz is. Fitz can catch a ball in a crowd, over people, with one hand, and I think the best receiver in the NFL. He also happens to be one of the good guys who does not make waves. Q remains all about Q. As a team player there is no comparason. If the Cards want to keep him. and I certainly assume they do, then they offer him what they can afford. They have other guys who need to be signed. We have shown we can win without Boldin and that is not a position of need. Sign Wilson and Dansby and then look at your CAP room and see what you can offer Q. You can only offer him what you can afford not what he wants. Apparently not many teams were ready to pony up much for him prior to the draft. There are probably deals that can still be made but if Boldin's asking price is out of the Cards range then it is play by the contract. He has no other options that would make economic sense.

TOTAL Bush League! If you dont think so you dont know the NFL very well. Guaranteed money is all that matters. Leaves Q hanging with no protection whatsoever.

I agree, but isn't he hanging with no protection now? And without the extra 3-4 million per season!

Even if the offer was bush league hes put himself in one heck of a bad spot and looks like he will continue to be in that spot for a couple more years.

He will now play his second consecutive season at 3-4 million less per year. I'm no Einstein but that math don't add up.

Cardshark, you suckered me into violating my self promise to stay out of all Boldin threads by suggesting a different motive that hasn't been discussed yet but many must have wondered about.

Could the underlying factor in this be that Boldin is more concerned about about losing his stature on this team.

Ego. No longer the Alpha male. The battle-scared and deposed patriarch. Still proud and defiant and still has fight in him.

I see a lot of this in Anquan Boldin's lashing out at management and coaches. Graves lied to him. Whisenhunt had no right to insinuate himself into discussion's of Boldin's contract. Todd Haley had no reason to not have Boldin on the field during the final drive of that playoff game and owed him a personal explanation right then and there.

The money matters. But this may be more about status and his place in the pack. The only thing Anquan may be telling the complete truth about is that he will not re-sign here. His bruised ego and nothing more, may be forcing him out to join another pack.

I have been saying from the beginning.

This has little to do with money and more to do with respect, ego, and legacy. Even if they offered him the same deal as Larry I don't think he would take it.

He wants be THE guy. And thats just not going to happen with Larry here.

Where are you guys getting your figures from? Boldin resigned an extension after year 2 of 1st contract IIRC in July 05.

That would be end of 04... He played 05, 06, and 07 season under NEW contract. Didnt start bickering until Off season prior to 08.... So NO they didnt just do that the year before. That would be playing 3 seasons under the new contract!

This is not true Shane, Boldin said himself that he was asking for a new contract prior to the 07 season and the Cardinals told him to wait. So he was bickering, just not publicly. He signed the contract, it was his current agent who worked the deal without incentive clauses. If he was a man, he'd be mad at himself and his agent, not at someone who has already proven by ripping up his initial contract and giving him 10M. That's the other thing is that everyone is leaving out that he already cashed those big checks and when comparing his salary CAP number is not his full salary.

Arizona's Finest. My apologies. No, I don't have you on "ignore." I do not remember reading that post of yours. My guess is it was in another one of those interminable Boldin argument threads I just speed-scroll through to see if any new member posts. Sometimes a newbie will be good and get ignored for a while.

The only reason I read Cardshark's thread carefully is he had an interesting new take. Or at least what I thought was new. It gave food for thought and now I see you stated the same earlier.

Yes Shane, Boldin signed the new deal in July of 05 and played the 05/06 season under the new contract...

He started asking for the new conract in the offseason leading up to the 06/07 seasons only 1 year into his deal.

He went public with his demands during the 07/08 season and escalated it during the 08/09 season.

He went public after playing three seasons under his current deal. I have neither read or seen anything that stated he asked for a new deal after year one.

Do you have a link for that? Because none of that was stated last off season.

Even so Graves promised him a contract if he made multiple pro bowls. He accomplished that goal the very next season after signing the contract. They made a cheesy attempt a year after the fact. Only proving that they DID promise that.

Shane, you've often referred to the Cardinals offer to re-structure as cheesy or bush league but as an initial offer it doesn't seem that bad to me, much less so insulting that all talks have to be cut off.

Obviously Boldin wants more guaranteed money but the team offering to double the salary portion of his contract as a starting point just doesn't seem that bad. I don't recall whether or not his bonus money was paid in the first year or over two years but didn't Boldin just pocket $10M+ as well as his salary those first two years?

From my feeble understanding of things the timing would indicate that he wants guaranteed money without putting in a year or two of contract money.

Hasn't the sequence been that he outplayed his rookie contract, the Cardinals gave him a big raise and $10M in guaranteed money, he played 1-2 years and then wanted more guaranteed money which the Cardinals offered to double the salary of the contract he was already under?

Most players don't have the luxury of playing every year with guaranteed money coming their way and it seems that Boldin could have taken the increase of the terms of the contract he signed as a sign of good faith and worked to re-structure a new deal when there was a year left on that contract. Two to three years before the end of a 5 year deal though?

I entertained this thought after the NFC Championship debacle. A lot of people thought it was the attention Fitz was getting with that monster playoff run. But I do wonder if it was a status issue with Fitz being percieved as a leader coming of age.......

I cant find the link quite yet, but I clearly remember around April or May of 2008 when the media really started honing in on this situation there was a quote from Boldin where he said something to the effect of, " We have been talking about this for 2 years..."

That clearly puts the starting timeline for his contact talks immediately following the season he signed his new contract.

Boldin done talking with Cards

FLAGSTAFF – An afternoon storm, this one man-made, blew through the Northern Arizona campus Thursday just minutes after the team finished its conditioning test.

Receiver Anquan Boldin didn’t hide his unhappiness over his contract, telling reporters team officials deceived him by not following through on a promise to give him a new contract by the start of the season. Boldin said he has instructed his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, to break off negotiations with the team.

“At this point, I’m not even interested in a contract,” said Boldin. “For me, it’s been going on two years, and especially after last year, I was promised a deal would get done before the season. But the season’s here and obviously that hasn’t happened.

I don’t want a deal. People may think I’m being funny or saying that just to say it. But, for me, I’m just tired of it. Washed my hands of the whole situation. My agent has direct orders not to negotiate. So that’s how I feel about it.”

That doesnt say he requested a new contract after the first year. That says "for him" it has been going on for two years.

He again states that HE WAS PROMISED a new deal if he made multiple pro bowls. WHICH HE DID! Doesnt say he went in and requested a new deal like you imply after one season. It says he was looking for one because he was promised one NOT REQUESTING one. It didnt happen and the next season which would be off season before last year (2008) he finally made a stink and went public.

Here's his quote exactly as you posted: "and especially after last year, I was promised a deal would get done before the season. But the season’s here and obviously that hasn’t happened."

That was stated during (beginning of TC) off season prior to 2008 season so the "after last year" would be referring to after the 2007 season. Which is his 3rd season in this current contract not the first. He played the 2005, 2006, 2007 and now 2008 seasons under his current. So no that doesnt support what you are saying.

Shane, there is a reason I posted the entire quote... He said, for him, its been two years (06/07 season) and the last year (07/08 season)he was promised a deal would get done before the season...But the season’s here and obviously that hasn’t happened. (08/09 season).

Cards made him an offer after the season and he rejected it.

It does not matter the seasons he has played under current contract; its the time frame in which he was asking for a new contract--which by my reading-- is 06/07 season--exactly one year after he signed the new contract.

I think you are misinterpreting the time frame. But either way nowhere in there does it say he REQUESTED a contract after year one. That quote was last off season in which he stated its been going on for two years. I take that to mean TWO SEASONS. Being 06 and 07 seasons. He signed contract prior to 05 season. If he started thsi after 06 season that would be 2 seasons under new contract. Either way itsa moot point. We will have to agree to disagree.
