Is Faneca worth it?

I apologize if this has already been covered but I really wonder about the potential Faneca will bring to the Cardinals. If we look at what Willie Parker did last year compared to James:
1,316/4.1 ypa/2 td
1,222/3.8 ypa/7 td
That's on a team that's know as a rushing team. How much better will the Card's line be with Faneca? I'm willing to bet that the Steelers' other lineman are at least as good as what the Cardinals have so if they're only managing 4.1 per carry with a pro-bowl RB and 2 TD's, is it really worth giving him a big contract?

Any chance the Card's focus on defense? If Fitz force the Cards to lose out on Faneca, spread what money they have on moderate talent and depth, I think they'll be better off.

You do realize that Parker missed his last 2 1/2 games plus a playoff game due to injury, right? He also plays in the far superior AFC

Non-sequitur thread. One lineman has little to do with the overall success of a running back.

Actually, no. He had 35 rushes and 2 100 yard games in week 15 & 16. He missed the last game. It doesn't matter now since the Jets signed Faneca but his worth, to me, was overrated. The guys on the Cards right now, will be better just by being in their 2nd year in Whis/Grimm's system. The team was already pretty darned good on offense so overspending for a marginal improvement doesn't seem wise to me.

Add some depth on offense and improve the defense. That should be the plan.

You do realize that interconference wins/loses this past season was 32 wins in favour of the AFC and 32 wins for the NFC, right ?.

The Cards were 3 and 1 against the AFC, and, by the way, the (NFC) New York Football Giants had a ticker tape parade in the big apple a few weeks back, for some reason.

He didn't play his last 2 games (Week's 16&17 and only had 14 carries in Weekd 15) and when he went down he was the NFL's leading rusher

And there goes the AFC superiority mask.

You're right, he missed two games. He didn't miss a half a game in week 15 though, they just didn't give him the ball as much. And that's a big part of his numbers. A LOT of carries. He got the ball 23 times/game compared to James' 20. Not a huge difference but neither was their, more telling stat in my opinion, yards per carry. Three carries per game doesn't sound like much but if you average that out you get 1,228 yards for James in 14 games(at 3.8 ypc and 23 att/g) and Parker leading the league at 1,317. James probably would have at least 1 more TD in those attempts as well.

Does Shaun Alexander miss his all-pro guard? Does Adrian Petersen appreciate said all-pro guard? Yeah Faneca is worth it.

Jets | Faneca story a false report?
Fri, 29 Feb 2008 16:19:24 -0800

Contradicting previous reports, Tom Rock, of New York Newsday, reports unrestricted free-agent OG Alan Faneca (Steelers) has not agreed to a deal with the Jets, according to his agent, Rick Smith. Rock reportedly spoke with Smith and Smith confirmed that the story of Faneca agreeing to a four-year deal with the Jets is false.
