Is it already time to consider Nkemdiche a bust?

How old is the quote in your sig? Because the Raiders receiving corps of Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree is far better than anything Arizona has. Hell they probably have a top 5 receiving corps in the whole league.

to use a similar Denny Green saying "Robert Nkemdiche is who I thought he was"

He just wasn't a huge consistent playmaker in college. Talent, athletic ability never justified his hype or productivity

I remember when we used to criticize the team for starting its rookies, first round or otherwise, in their first game of the season; and would hope that we could shelve and develop them. Now, we're complaining that we can't get them out soon enough.

The answer to the question is "no".

Well past the time to label him a bust. The guy should have been making an impact from day one. What a joke. Unless he is hurt, he needs to be out there tearing it up.

Here is a guy, Chris Jones (DT), that Kansas City picked 8 selections after we chose Nkemdiche:

Not exaggerating, when I read this thread title I thought; "Oh crap, that's right! Whatever happened to him???" In all the turmoil of the season I had completely forgot about him, because he has been invisible.

But I still say too early to say bust I think that should always be saved for season 2. You have to give a kid a year to develop but he certainly has been disappointing.

Usually, when a guy touted to go much higher in the draft falls to the bottom of the first round it motivates him to show all of the other teams that they were wrong not to pick him. So far, I would imagine there are no teams regretting that they passed on him.

In fairness we have to wait until next year. But so far there is not much to be excited about. If he manages to stay healthy through next TC, it will be a good start. If not...............

So, who are you taking out of the lineup to play RN? The Cards have one of the best, deepest DL's in the game.
Why do people want to label someone a bust so quickly? He's 9 games into his career and probably only been healthy for 3-4 of them. Yep, he's a bust, smh.

He hasn't looked good when he's played but I agree there's no reason to play him more right now the DL is the least of our problems.

If you look at the past 4 drafts you have to wonder how they decide on whom they pick. In 4 drafts the team has been able to find 5 players that have logged starts for more than one season. I leave Mathieu off of this because he has been injured so much. Out of 29 picks the team has retained 21 of them. The problem is only a few have been able to provide any type of significant playing time and for whatever reason some have regressed or have never developed very much.

2016
Round 1, Pick No. 29: Robert Nkemdiche - Hasn't been a factor at all. For a player they picked to supply pass rush support he has done nothing.
Round 3, Pick No. 92: Brandon Williams - So raw he was exposed early and hasn't produced much of anything.
Round 4, Pick No. 128: Evan Boehm - Will he replace Shipley after this season?
Round 5, Pick No. 167: Marqui Christian - Bumbling FO allowed him to be picked off by another team.
Round 5, Pick No. 170: Cole Toner - Showed promise in pre season.
Round 6, Pick No. 205: Harlan Miller - PS

2015
Round 1, Pick No. 24 D.J. Humphries Starter - Has been mediocre to horrible so far.
Round 2, Pick No. 58 Markus Golden -Starter Has been a productive player, solid but not elite.
Round 3, Pick No. 86 David Johnson - Starter The shining star of the 2015 draft.
Round 4, Pick No. 116 Rodney Gunter - Solid rotational guy nothing more.
Round 5, Pick No. 158 Shaq Riddick - No longer on the team.
Round 5, Pick No. 159 J.J. Nelson - Has shown flashes but has not been consistent. Not a #2 receiver. Size is a detriment.
Round 7, Pick No. 256 Gerald Christian - No longer on the team.

2014
Round 1, Pick No. 27 Deone Bucannon - Starter A safety converted to ILB. Enough said. Under sized and can be washed out by a smart OC.
Round 2, Pick No. 52 Troy Niklas - Has made a nice living being on IR.
Round 3, Pick No. 84 Kareem Martin - Occupies a spot on the roster.
Round 3, Pick No. 91 John Brown - Started out with a bang and has steadily declined since due to injuries.
Round 4, Pick No. 120 Logan Thomas - Waste of a pick.
Round 5, Pick No. 160 Ed Stinson - Has seen limited time and playing time has decreased.
Round 6, Pick No. 196 Walt Powell - No longer on the team.

2013
Round 1, Pick No. 7 Jonathan Cooper - Bust
Round 2, Pick No. 45 Kevin Minter - Starter Has slowly come along. Has as more liabilities than strengths.
Round 3, Pick No. 69 Tyrann Mathieu - Part time Starter - Helluva player when healthy. Injury prone.
Round 4, Pick No. 103 Alex Okafor - Had all of the look of a solid starter only to decline into rotational status.
Round 4, Pick No. 116 Earl Watford - Starter Only due to injuries. Has been like Humphries, mediocre to horrible so far
Round 5, Pick No. 140 Stepfan Taylor - Special teams player.
Round 6, Pick No. 174 Ryan Swope - Another wasted pick.
Round 6, Pick No. 187 Andre Ellington - After a promising start the injury bug hit and has little impact now.
Round 7, Pick No. 219 D.C Jefferson - No longer on the team.

Maybe it is too early in his career but all indications IMOP is he is a bust. Is he injured? I know he had some earlier in the season but if he is then why is he not even suiting up.

BTW Was not in fan of this draft choice

Bust? Not yet but an early disappointment? Yes. At this point in the season you want to see something from him.

Too soon. Yes, he should already be contributing. But he's still got the raw talent, and hopefully he's gaining some humility that will serve him in the future. If he's not tearing it up from the get-go next year, then I'd label him "bust" at that time. Let's give him a bit more slack.

I understand that rookies need time to mature but this coaching staff for me is very strange on how they hold rookies out, especially top picks. I know other teams might do it but they are really fickle about the whole thing. To be truthful, I do not think one can even give an opinion till a guy can play at least 5 full games. Yes, I know the coaches see things we do not but we see things too at times which takes the coaching staff way too long to adjust to as well. I really like our coaching staff but they often are very kid gloves with some of our draft picks

It is less about the staff and more about the type of player that they are bringing in. Bucannon, Mathieu, Ellington, David Johnson, John Brown, Golden, and Okafor didn't have kid gloves on them.
