Its baseball season bro. Go to a DiamondBacks game and harass the Cubs fans.

It will keep you in good form for the fall.

Yep, we're in the dead period. Nothing until training camp. I guess we could start another thread about Logan Thomas, or a 2015 mock :D.

If I want to see something flopping around every minute or so, I'll watch a fishing tournament. :D

You fine sir fail to see the finer points of the game. It's not only the goals scored but the play that results in the goal. Really no different than the block that springs a RB for a long run or a TD. You have to appreciate the block otherwise the RB goes no where. Try a game on for size. I'm not trying to convert you, just trying to get you to see there is so much more to the game if you watch it with eyes open and appreciate the skill and athleticism it takes to play soccer or football as the rest of the world knows it. The USA plays this Sunday at 6pm EDT so that would be 3pm AZ time. on ESPN. ;)

No need to convert me, I like the game.. My wife played it in college.
I much prefer the womens game, the integrity level is bumped up about 1000%

I watched some today that was on at the gym, everytime I looked up there was some dude doing an alligator death roll across the pitch.
Ridiculous.

I do agree with you that these guys overdo it way too much looking for a call. I myself was yelling at a GK the other day to get his lame ass up off the ground. He acted like he got shot and no one touched him. If the Refs would start pulling yellow cards out for that which is perfectly legal (unsporting behavior) and okay to do, then maybe they wouldn't pull that crap. As for the Womens game I agree with you. Being a soccer coach for so many years I much rather coach women/girls than guys any day. You win their belief in what you are trying to teach them and they will run through a brick wall for you.

Oh we must really be bored waiting for football, if this thread has deteriorated into a soccer discussion.. I haven't watched one minute of the World Cup and don't plan on starting either.. And soccer has ruined ruined the NBA with all the foreign players coming to play basketball in the US and bringing the flop with them from soccer..

A couple of us were at work trying to figure out the rules of soccer when the US was playing this week.. From what we can understand.. The clock winds up instead of down.. The ref can at his discretion add more time at the end.. Way to give control of the game to an outside source.. ... A player can be out of bounds while in possession of the ball.. No idea why.. .. And when all else fails, which is more common than not.. When no one scores, the game is decided on goal kicks.. Even that doesn't settle things, then it's a considered a draw.. So essentially, nothing was accomplished and everyone wasted their time watching guys run around doing nothing besides flopping..

Agree 100%.

I still haven't figured out why they took the american that pulled a hammy off the field in a coffin.

As for b-ball, the two worst I've seen lately is LeBron being carried to the bench because of cramps and, a while back, Dwayne Wade draped in towels, sitting in a wheel chair because he twisted an ankle or something. It's pretty ridiculous.

I would be able to watch more/some soccer but the offsides rule is stupid IMHO. I was watching Mexico and ????, 2 or 3 goals were disallowed because a player was an inch past the last defender.

I'll try and watch the USA on Sunday but it's not must see TV for me.

I love Soccer. I can turn on a game, go play 18 holes of golf, and come back and everything is still the same.

This Word Cup has been quite enjoyable. Many great games and an abundance of goals scored. Unless you take the time to understand the game then you really can't appreciate it. I know there are some that just can't get past the fact that it is a game that did not originate in the USA. Some see it as a foreign game or even, oh my gosh, a foreign invasion. Truth is there is a required amount of skill and an incredible amount of fitness required to play soccer or as the rest of the world knows it futbol.

Some say they can't get pass the flopping which is no different than a WR taking a dive trying to draw a PI penalty. We've also all seen guys in the NFL get a little shove and they flop to the ground acting like they been shot hoping to get a PF penalty. Soccer is not the only sport where we see such ridiculous antics.

There is a lot of team effort and need to play like a team with precise passes, timed runs and coordinated defense. No different than other sports. I am not trying to convince others to give it a chance, all I am trying to do is to get others to look at it fairly. Don't dismiss it just because you don't understand it. I have watched field hockey many times and I still don't get it however I do respect the fact that it takes skill, fitness, and teamwork to play it.

I grew up playing soccer. A retired pro moved into our neighborhood and started up a team which eventually became the beginnings of a league. I loved playing it and I followed it as best I could which wasn't that easy in the 60's. I went to many football matches when stationed in Germany in the 70's. Personally, I can't stand what the sport has become. It has nothing to do with it not originating in America or understanding the game. I appreciate the conditioning, skill and incredible teamwork on display but the flopping, the fan behavior and the business of the sport turn me off.

Steve
