heard we had the worst record of all the teams in spring training.
Spring training is the time for decision making. Who will be our 1B? Who will start the season at 3B? Who will be our #5 starter? Who will bat where in a consistent batting order (thank goodness)? Who will be our 7th inning and set-up pitchers? Who will not make the 25-man roster? And now, who will be our 3B coach until Matty's foot heals?
As well as preparation, such as who will respond with solid fielding? And a change from home runs-or-strikeouts to line drives.
As long as good decisions are made by opening day, that is all the matters. That is when our W-L record begins.
If we came into the season with a winning record last year, a set lineup and a set rotation and bullpen, then a bad Spring Training record would be demoralizing.
Not so with a Manager conducting his first Spring Training and a toughness the D'backs have never seen.
