I didn't get to watch again, so I'm asking this question of the board, specifically of those who saw the game: Is it time to blow it up? Overhaul the roster, cut the dead weight, fire the coaching staff and Keim, and start from scratch? After the season, of course.

Problem is, this team didn't at all plan for the future. We don't have a QB to go forward with, the O-line is a wreck, we're screwed at the WR position, etc. Seeing as though we're in trouble next year anyway, and, with the team going 'all in' and playing this bad, it seems logical.

Any insight on this from those who have watched?

Blow up? No. Major changes? Absolutely. The O-line needs major changes. The team also looks pretty old on offense. Other than line Cards will need another WR and a QB obviously. Maybe that guy is Gabbert. Who knows. But the cupboard is not bare and a retool could get them back where they need to be.

If the first two weeks are indicative --in this coming offseason, Palmer, Veldheer, Iupati and Fitz will all not be worth their cap hits and will be gone -by their choice or not

Unless things turn around, you cant really count on John Brown, and everyone else in the WR room are just guys

The o line is pretty much Boehm and DJ --neither of which are sure things yet

I guess you have Gabbert while a young guy learns. the team would need to find a #1 WR, a RT, a OG, etc. sounds like starting over

Yeah I'm guessing no.
Maybe not but if you are going to run out an o-line like this you need a guy that can run. He has skill and sadly he will probably play this season at some point since Carson will get killed behind the line.

Good thing we would have a lot of cap space.

There's a lot of truth in that. Our line is so bad.

I think this roster will naturally take care of itself.

Palmer likely retires. I think it frees up 14 mil.
Fitz is the same. This costs us 4.8 in dead money.
Veldheer is 10.25, but cutting him frees up 7mil, and we eat the 3.25.
Iupati is a little tougher. He is 9.7, and cutting him frees up 6.3, but you eat 3.4.
Bucannon is 8.7, but he will want to renegotiate as he won't want to hit free agency after this year of injury.
Cutting Mauro frees up 2.8, but I think they keep that.
Bethea frees up 3.5 but costs 1.5. With Branch being a FA, I also doubt they do this.

So, adding up Palmer, Fitz, and Veldheer, we will free up 21 mil, but will eat 14 mil. So, good news is that we have 21 mil, but bad news is that we are without a QB, WR1, and RT. Eating the 14 mil is why I believe they will likely keep or extend Iupati. Maybe they can get him to take a pay cut, we will see.

2020 is the out year for the Cardinals with Mathieu for those who are curious.

FA next year...
Drew Stanton
Blaine Gabbert
***The Cardinals will bring someone in, but my guess is they re-sign Gabbert.
A Ellington
K Williams
***My guess is that Williams comes back.
Jaron Brown
John Brown
B Golden
***
Golden and Jaron are the more valuable players at this point due to John's medical. They probably re-sign.
Corey Peters
Frostee Rucker
***My guess is that neither gets re-signed. They will want a bigger name. I have an idea of what I would do, but we will see.
Dansby
Bynes
Kareem Martin
***Who knows with Dansby. Kareem is probably most likely as he is more valuable to the Cards than he is to another team.
Branch
Justin Bethel
Tramon Williams
***All probably go.

Next year is shaping up to be really brutal. They save $14 on Palmer, but still eat $6+ in dead money, so you're looking at a net of about $8mill. Fitz costs almost $5mil in dead. The Cards may only have $50-60mil in cap space with a boat load of holes to fill.

Regarding your list Chopper, both Iupati and Veldheer could be gone or have their contracts reworked. That probably wont happen unless their play gets better

I think Veldheer will move on. The math makes sense for the Cardinals and I doubt Veldheer looks to get on with another team a year after he considered retirement.

The math on Iupati is a little more clouded. If Dorian Johnson develops into a world beater, then they probably move on. If not, I doubt they cut him to sign someone else.

The good thing is that we have a bunch of draft picks, and have some large dollar pieces on the roster. Any roster with Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu, Budda Baker, Chandler Jones, Markus Golden, Haason Reddick, Deone Bucnannon, Robert Nkemdiche, Jermaine Gresham, David Johnson and JJ Nelson has potential. Biggest things will be QB, OL, WR and DL. My opinion would be to look at Dontari Poe to add some beef up front. Allen Robinson might be worth a look to replace Fitz as I have a tough time believeing the Jags will franchise a guy off of an ACL. OL, I have no clue at this point. We may just need to get another swing OT, and keep drafting until something hits. It might not be the worst thing to keep Hump, Iupati, Ship and Boehm in their spots and then just have Wetzel, Holden, a FA OT, and maybe a draft pick compete for the RT spot. A lot depends on Humphries.

We have the talent to be best in nfcw - with CJ - KW, penny and AE don't seem to have what it takes consistently - they can look good in spots then - nothing - we just need to start CJ and get him about 20 carries , online , palmer d will be better
