Is J.J. Arrington a reach with the 44th pick?

A late second round pick who, obviously, didn't quite pan out. If he did, you probably would have heard of him. He was drafted by New England in 1999. I think he's still on the team, but definately not a franchise back.

i thought fazande was drafted by the chargers, no?

JJ is gone in the mock I am participating in. Tampa Bay got him at #36. :hulk:
...and then there's that little potential problem...

Should Arizona reach pick #2 without Henry on board and without Arrington on the draft board, they will no longer be in a "position of strength", assuming they are to begin with.

Who did TB take in the first round then?

And who did AZ take?

I think we Bills fans are mostly starved for anything to happen at this point. I'm not sure how good Shelton really is, but I know we're in need of another tackle. Henry's as good as gone, and the Arizona trade scenario seems best at this point. I'd rather see them get a proven lineman than a hit or miss draft pick (I'm sure some of you feel the same). Considering the records of each team and the needs on each team, I'd expect the Cards fans to be more desperate for this trade so that another immediate need can be addressed with the 8th pick. Remember where you're picking and how you got there before assuming Buffalo is more desperate for this trade to happen.

I just want a good RB. Henry would be great, but the Cards have other options. I would take Henry and pick up Sproles in the 3rd round. I supported Emmitt when he was here, but now it's time to be realistic about the Card's future at RB. I don't like the idea of Scobey or Croom on our roster.

Arrington was just featured on NFL Access and , as all highlight films do, he looks quite impressive.
He is built similar to Micheal Bennett and is a better receiver than Bennett was coming out off college. He seems to fit the mold of what this offense needs.
Most publications have him going somewhere in the 3rd round.

I'd like your opinions.
If the Cards were to take Pacman Jones or Antrell Rolle with the #8 pick, would Arrington be too much of a reach at #44 ?

I have no idea. I was sort of glued to the SEC and also watched Texas a lot. The Auburn guys are for real but I am not sure I see an all pro RB in this group including Benson. The only all pro I am looking at is the Texas LB Johnson. DB's to me are really hard to gauge and only rarely would I take one with my first pick. A guy like Deion comes along once in a while but for the most part DB's are one of the more difficult positions to judge. One guy may look great because he had great help with his other DB's and a great rush from his DL. Put him in the NFL and he may be a bust. You can see a RB break tackles, make moves, and power over people with out any help but his own ability. This is why I take a RB with my first pick unless we view one of these CB as the next Deion.

Very interesting pick if we go another position in the first, and especially if we don't trade for Henry 5 minutes later. A backfield of Shipp, Hambrick, and Arrington could be wildly unpredictable, but you never know--might be something there. Maybe not the upgrade we wanted, but I think any of those guys could duplicate Smith's overrated '04 production (it was good for the circumstances, but middle of the road otherwise).

Shipp coming off a broken leg is like a rookie to me. I would not count on him for much until he can prove it. I think we end up needing two more RB's. Even at their best Shipp and Hambrick are probably backups on most teams. We need a game breaker and we do not have one at RB. We have seen these guy play before and what you see is what you get.

You're too modest JHolt - being from Arkansas, you've got to be excited about Razorback Matt (Skyrocketing Up the Charts) Jones.

DDogg, in the first round TB took Braylon Edwards, WR. I just noticed that the Buc fan who is drafting for Tampa Bay happens to be a CAL fan too, so he is very familiar with JJ, and that probably explains his pick. In the first round I selected Antrell Rolle; I have been drafting with the assumption that Henry is a done deal. I'm ready to pick #44; the NYG just picked Fason at #43, he was the 5th RB selected. I have narrowed it down to Alex Smith, TE, Stanford and David Baas, G/C, Michigan. I like what little I saw of Edwards, so I am going with Baas because we need a guard with a mean streak, and he can backup at Center.

Is Matt Jones still available?? If he is you should pull the trigger on him.
