Just curious what you guys think. Do you feel Karlos ranks among the top 5 in the league at his position? and how does he compare to the likes of Derrick Brooks, Marcus Washington, Lance Briggs..etc?

Alot of people that don't pay attention to the Cardinals, will say Karlos who? but you can tell by watching this kid play that he's gonna be great. He had 2 spectacular interceptions Week 1 against the Giants one returned for a touchdown, and another 1-handed pick resulting from a tipped pass at the line displaying his awareness. Week 16 against the Eagles he tipped a pass to himself and returned it for a TD.

Here's his stats from last season
88 tackles, (69 solo, 19 assisted) 4 sacks, 3 interceptions, 2 def. tds, 1 pass defl.

Top 5 Coverage LB, Yes. He was the biggest reason why we were the best D in the league in TE receptions, yards, first downs, and TD's.

Top 5 overall LB I can say pretty easily, not yet(emphasize YET). He still has to get more tackles which will come with fewer missed tackles. I still dont think we have put him in a position to blitz him as much as we would like to yet either. He has the potential to be top 5 easily.

Dansby is a stud! If he isn't in the top five last year he will get better this year as he is still in that football learning curve. The guy should be a pro bowler this year IMO.

maybe said another way (trying very hard to put homer-ism aside) -- name five other outside linebackers you would rather have on your roster for the next four years-

Pro Bowl OLBs as candidates:

Lance Briggs
Derrick Brooks
Joey Porter
Cato June
Keith Brooking
Shawn Merrieman

I dunno. The bar just doesnt seem that high.

Given time and supporting cast he could easily find himself among the elite in the NFL, but as of right now he's a phenominal building block for a young team that's on the rise thanks to two solid drafts.

Furthermore OLB is a tough comparison

A 4-3 OLB is much different than a 3-4 OLB.

Demarcus Ware plays a much different position than Karlos Dansby.

Merriman, Ware, and Porter are more like a 1/2 DE, 1/2 OLB.

While Dansby, June, and Julian Peterson are more of a 1/2 Saftey, 1/2 OLB

I don't think he's that good just yet. Here's the OLBs I would take over him:

Washington
Brooks
Porter
Spikes (pending injury)
Briggs
Vrabel

Also, maybe Bulluck and Peterson

I love how Arrington is not even in the equation in the best OLB. He sure never lived up to that hype

I don't think Dansby will ever have a bunch of sacks because he covers the
TE on most passing downs, plus the coaching staff starting using AW so much
on their blitz packages. I would definately have #58in my top 5 because he can do so much: cover, blitz and run down ball carriers. I thought so much of this kid after his rookie season that I purchased a #58 jersey

He is top 5 and he is making huge plays on a defense that makes very little.
If he was in Baltimores system he would be the OLB version of Ray Lewis.
I believe Dansby is top 3 looking at last season.

I think in time he will be among the elite. No matter how you rank him now, I'm glad as hell he plays for us.
