Do you have to be a player or coach to be a good talent evaluator?

No. Anyone ever see Joel Buschbaum? He was one of the best evaluators out there and by looking at him I think it was obvious he never played football.

I think John Clayton was a perennial pro bowl middle linebacker.

He was the best and certainly missed by those interested in the draft. His writings were excellent, and when interviewed on the radio was a virtual computer with his off the top of his head knowledge. And he was right very very often. (RIP)

LEVI TO SLIDE?

One of the rumors making the rounds with the draft a day away is that Penn State offensive tackle Levi Brown could plunge.

There's a school of thought that, if he gets past the Texans at No. 10 (and there is a strong belief in some circles that the Texans don't want him), Brown could slide deep into the round.

One possible landing spot is No. 20, to the Giants. But as to a recent report in one of the New York papers suggesting that the Giants might be eyeballing Brown because they have called to confirm his draft-day contact information, every team does this with every player in the pool. So that fact in and of itself means nothing.

Levi Brown would follow the Giants drafting history. They seem to always draft a Big 10 player who busts.:D
