Today Coach Whis stated that Leinart was taking more snaps with the first team.

Then later he mentioned how he wanted to give a game off to some of his older vets who were fighting off some bumps and bruises.

My guess is that Whis is planning on Leinart playing in Seattle unless the game is super significant.

Hope that is true! Kurt and others (Q, Fitz, Berry, Dockett, Hayes, Wilson, Hood, Wells, Gandy...) can use the rest!

Sounds good. You never know, maybe Warner goes down with an injury and this will help ML be a bit better prepared for the situation.

There's a lot of responsibility riding on Kurt's shoulders, I'm sure he feels the pressure every game he plays. The pressure he feels must be intense, especially without a strong running game.

It's probably nothing, but I just want to ask the question to see if anyone else has noticed this.

In the last three games they've shown Kurt warming up just before the game and something just seems out of place with the guy. In his eyes, he looks unsure, or dare I say even scared. I hadn't noticed this before the Giants game. This "unsure" look seems to coincide with our renewed focus on getting the running game going. And in the last three games he's not been quite as sharp as he was earlier in the year. Maybe its just that the Giants and Eagles are better teams. Maybe it's just that the hits are starting to take a toll. And maybe its just that when the game plan doesn't call for him to sling it all over the field at all times he gets uncomfortable. I don't know.

Anyone else notice this?

To answer your question, no. I think he may be a bit worn down, but I think he is enjoying this season and is probably relieved we wrapped this thing up yesterday.
Asking or expecting him to be as sharp as he was at times this year is unreasonable. He probably could have thrown for 400 yards yesterday but the game was in our control and all we needed Warner to do in the second half was mange the final 1/4 and a half.
It would be nice if every game went that way.

RD, I've noticed it too. I even e-mailed D. Urban about it just to see if an insider was seeing the same things. He said he hadn't really been watching the sideline stuff during the games so he hasn't noticed anything but I think it's quite clear that Warner's demeanor has been very dark for the past month.

In the Rams game he looked like his puppy died for much of the game and I thought it quite out of place. Late in the game he was smiling and laughing with everyone so maybe it was the pressure of closing out the division. I hope it's just a serious look and not a weathered look.

I'm just as concerned with the dropoff in the receiver's in the last 4 games. Warner's was beaten black and blue for two consecutive weeks so I could at least imagine how he wasn't at his peak but I don't know why so many drops and lack of focus have been occurring with the receivers.

They all need to come together for the last 3 games and maybe the division crown will loosen them up a little bit.

Matter of fact he said that very thing on Colin Cowherd's show yesterday. Mike Sando posted a link to the interview on his blog. Cowherd specifically asked about the pressure he feels because of the almost total lack of a running game, and Kurt confessed that he DOES feel enormous pressure. When Cowherd asked about retirement, Kurt more or less said that a better running game would make it easier to re-up for a couple years.

Podcast about 1/2 way down the page.

If Kurt is still calling most of the plays as being reported, and he is still lined up in the shotgun this often, then it is his own fault tha the running game isn't there. You can't effective run out of the shotgun.

If you could provide a link to this I would appreciate it. The last thing I read was that he was calling about 25% of the plays. I haven't seen anything that says he's calling "most" of the plays.

I'll have to try and find it. It was a couple weeks ago.

I really hope we can have another thread about Warner. I really do.

I also not sure we resolved the Warren Moon discussion.

My guess is that Whis is planning on Leinart playing in Seattle unless the game is super significant.

He also stated that he wanted to get Matt some time and Warner some rest in the Rams game. But after the two first drives the opporunity just didnt present itself until it was to late.

Depending on if the opportunity presents itself in the next two games we could see some time for Matt and a little rest for Warner, even before the Seattle game.

Warner hasnt played a full season in a long time. I think what is being seen and I myself have noticed it as well is a man trying to push through the wall. You can see that look on some rookies faces as well who are only used to 12 game schedules.

The comment had to do with his calling "pre-snap" plays at the line of scrimmage...

Perhaps he's sad because there aren't enough of us fans who truly believe. Maybe, just maybe, what we all need to do is to get together and believe, and that belief will sustain him and give him strength!

I mean, what the hell, it worked for Tinkerbell didn't it. :)

Hell, it that's the case then maybe I should sit Warner this weekend. He's starting on both of my FF teams and I've got playoff semis with both squads.

I think the running game has shown flashes of being very good, as is. It's hard for a line to get used to the step rythmn of different backs all day long. One back, carrying most of the load would help.
Warner is Warner. Take him out of his comfort zone, and like anyone else, he'll look that way, but (and I've been doubtfull of him at times), he's showing more than enough durability and courage under fire. His mistakes are ones he shouldn't be making.
I think he's fine and hope our back ups are ready to take full advantage of our offense, IF something happens to Warner.
Dansby and Q will both be re-signed. The Cards rarely do anything, contract wise, in season.
Plus that, winning, eases alot of bruised egos. We go two deep in the playoffs, bonus's of about 100g's, everyone will be smiling.
the problem I see with next year is, every team knows now, we are to be reckoned with.
But, that said, I'm not worried about Warner.
