Is there a scenerio where Dansby walks after this season?

If the Cards think Pace's deal is not a fair estimate of Dansby's value, then yes, he's not likely to be here next year. Lot's of teams will be happy to pay him that, and more..... IF he plays as well this year as he did last year.

He may walk and Wiz may let him walk, but I don't think thats a good idea really. Most of the Pittsburgh LBs who left were either a product of there fantastic defensive scheme, or aged vets. Dansby is neither, we should do what we can do sign him long term.

Keep this in mind my fellow Card's fans; we cant re-sign all of these players that are asking for new contracts, like Wilson, Boldin, Dockett, etc. IMO, Dansby will be the one that walks away. I can see him asking for top LB money, even if he doesnt make the pro bowl this year. Just expect the worst and hope for the best

He'll get tagged again next year, skip most of training camp, and leave the following year.
I don't think there is any way that they agree to a new deal before the deadline, and I can't see us bring in anyone to match his production next year.

His tag number next year will be 10 mil. I don't see us tagging him, he's gone if we can't sign him to an extension before the deadline. July 15th??

That is a good question.
I think the Cardinals will let him walk. Which is unfortunate because I like his style of play.
But if Dansby walks, I don't think he will have the success he has here.

If we sign him before July 15th, we'll free up enough Cap money, IMO, to then sign Q to a long term deal. And I agree that there is no way we pay him $10M, next year. And we should then have enough Cap room to sign Q, AW and DD to long term deals. Of course if Hightower shows anything this year, Edge will probably be let go, also. So in '09 our biggest draft needs will be LB and RB. JMO.

If I recall Lance Briggs contract was 6 years and 31 million. I can't see the Cardinals offering more than 6 mill per year. That may not be enuf. If not, he is gone.

The better question should be, is there a scenerio where Dansby is a Cardinal next year?
I like Karlos on our team but I don't think that he's really interested in success.

Agreed, I'm getting tired of seeing stories about him being next year's Calvin Pace.

What do you mean, "Look at how Pittsburgh let their LBs walk"? They let Kendrell Bell leave after he had one good season and was terrible the next three. Clark Haggans was a Steeler for 8 seasons (at least 2 contracts). Larry Foote is on his second contract in Steeltown. Farrior is entering his 7th season in Pittsburgh.
I don't think that Dansby will be here next season, and I think he'll likely burn the practice facility down between January and March. It's probably more important to the Cards that they extend Dansby than Adrian Wilson, since Wilson is quickly approaching the downside of his career (he'll be 29 in October).

Carlos Emmons, Earl Holmes & Joey Porter you left out. The linebackers that outpriced themselves were allowed to go. The ones that didn't, stayed. They didn't let Kendrell Bell go after he had one good season and was terrible the next three. They let him go after he had one good season, one decent season, one great season, then one season inactive, after three games, with a groin injury. His terrible seasons came after he was gone.
The difference between the LBs that left and the ones that stayed is how much the ones that left wanted.
Dont know about that. The guy is a physical freak! Still ha sthe body of a 20 year old and many safetys seem to play at a high level well into their 30's.

Joey Porter was like 32 when he went to Miami last year. The Steelers are excellent at identifying when players are entering the downside of their careers--at every position. They don't let players leave just when they're entering their prime.
Emmons started 16 games in only 1 season for the Steelers, and was never a star for them. Earl Holmes played for 6 seasons in Pittsburgh--through his first contract. Vrabel wasn't a star, either. He's a productive player, but he's not even a star in New England. LaVon Kirkland was fat. Chad Brown was an injury case.
The Steelers rarely let a player leave who then goes on and explodes and spends the prime of his career with another team. That's one of the things that separates Pittsburgh from the tradtional Cardinals--one thing that I hope is changing on our end.
