Bartel is hard to figure. Outstanding, HOF numbers in pre season. And terrible numbers in real games. He may just be one of those guys who is far better than the spares he faces in the pre season games but yet not good enough to compete with the starting 11 on other teams defenses.

He is also typically going against 3rd and 4th string in the preseason.

Well that's my point.

He's a guy who apparently is far better than the 3rd and 4th string defenses but not good enough to beat the first string guys. That has to be really frustrating for him to go out and light up teams in the 3rd and 4th quarter of preseason games and entire pre season game 4's. To the point of putting up HOF type stats. And then not be able to do anything once the first string guys come in.
