OUCH! Not sure it was his fault he got injured.
Its his fault that he thinks this teams sucks and doesnt wanna play here, when in actuallity if he wasnt hurt we may have been a better team. No telling all a maybe.

This team does suck, so what is wrong with his thinking? The guy is not getting any younger and to rehabilitate himself to play in the big leagues again, only to be on a crappy team with no immediate future is a waste of his time.

I don't know how old you are, but I am guessing as you start to near your 40's, you will start to realize that time is a precious thing and should be spent doing something you are passionate about.

It would be quite difficult to be passionate enough to work yourself through rehabilitation with no hope of achieving a championship.

While I think he should probably give something back to the D-backs for being out all season long and still collecting a paycheck, I cannot blame the guy for not wanting to play here right now. Name one player with his tenure that would?

Randy Johnson has to be pretty damn miserable. At least he won a championship here before Joe Jr screwed it all up.

The Sexson deal sucked!

If you want to blame somebody blame Joe Jr. He made the horrible deal to get him and gave up about 5 players that could be playing everyday.

The Dbacks win 25 more games if they don't make the Sexson deal.

That doesn't make them a contender but it makes them a lot more barable. And we'd still have those pieces to use to help our team get better.

Look at what Joe Jr. has given away in the last 3 years and what he's got in return. It's enogh to make you sick.

Hey Sexson go blow your shoulder out again for some other sucker team. Hope you win a championship watching from the bench. Hope your new team will appreciate all your practical jokes since you probably won't play more than 50 games anyway.

That being said I bet Joe IDIOT signs him anyway. Sexson won't be getting any great offers given the fact that his injury is very serious and is the type that is reccuring. Joe will offer a contract twice as big as any other team and Sexson will play those 50 games for us next year.

All this whining about wanting to play for a winner is probably just a negotiating ploy. Sexson's agent knows that not resigning him woud be yet another PR blunder for Joe.

'Gotta disagree, devilalum. When Richie went down with the injury, he was averaging an RBI per game. That's 162 RBI's for a season. (The previous season, he played every inning of every game for the Brewers.) And he provided protection in the lineup for Gonzo. The D'backs were on a roll.

When we lost him, the domino effect began.

As far as the D'backs winning 25 more games without the trade, I don't think so.

Overbay has been slumping. His batting average is down to .302. His 82 RBI's are better than his performance with the D'backs, but that's not in Sexson's league.

Counsell is batting .235 as the everyday shortstop. Moeller is batting .208 as the lead catcher. Spivey was hitting .272 with 29 RBI's when he went down with his injury.

And Capuano is 6-8 with a 4.99 ERA, and has averaged less than 5 2/3 innings pitched in his 17 starts.

Richie Sexson's mistake was trying to reverse a power hitter's swing in a split second . . . twice. How I wish ballplayers would realize that it's just not worth it.

I'd like to see him back.

I could be wrong but didn't the Dbacks have a losing record when Sexton first got injured something like 9-12.

You could be right. But, before Sexson was injured the first time, the D'backs had momentum.

And a solid lineup able to do justice to even a starting pitching rotation which had been depleted beyond Johnson and Webb.

I remember how excited we were at where the D'backs were headed. Even with Gonzo playing injured.

Would we have been the best team in our division with Sexson? If our bullpen had stayed healthy and effective, we would have been in the running.

But as soon as we lost Sexson, we were no longer a team which could challenge for the top spot. And, if Richie doesn't sign, we'll be in the same spot.

A superstar power hitter in the heart of the batting order can make a difference. Don'tcha think?

What season have you two been following? This team had no chance before Sexson, our pitching was an absolute joke from the beginning of the year.

I was excited. With the team we had before the injuries, we'd be in the West race. SF and LA both have weak teams. LA has come on strong lately, but they're not GREAT. SF has a so so pitching staff and other than Bonds Offense is hard on them. SD just hasn't put it all together yet.

We could be at the top of the division.

Randy and Webb are a nice 1-2 punch. With them pitching to potential, that's a good 30-35 wins. Then add in a decent Dessens (IF USED RIGHT!!! ), and two minor leaguers that can be .500 and we're a nice team. Have a lineup of Gonzo, Sexson, and the rest of the bunch, and we have a strong offense.

No we wouldn't win the world series, but we would have a shot at the West.

Phil, you live in a dream world. I agree that the West is weak, but our pitching rotation is pitiful. You have Randy, Webb, who has had a very disappointing year, and a bunch of crap. Dessens sucks, everybody knows this, and none of our minor leaguers are going .500 this year, that is an absolute pipe dream. Gosling is the only one who looks like he has a chance of doing anything. We don't even need to start to discuss the bullpen....I don't care who is on offense, without good pitching, no team has a chance of winning anything. Also, btw, even before Gonzo was hurt, he wasn't doing anything useful anyway. He is worthless, and his defense is a liability.

If you guys can't wait until this regular season is over, just wait until the offseason. You see, a smart team would trade Johnson and let Rob Deer...I mean Richie Sexson go strikeout 200x somewhere else. Instead, Joe Jr. is going to bring everyone back, including Finley who we'll probably forfeit a 1st round draft pick for. Then we'll go out and sign Jeromy Burnitz and Royce Clayton to deferred salary contracts, both of whom Brenneman was conspicuosly jocking way too much during our last series with them considering they both suck outside of Denver. Then to top it off, we'll name Mark Grace the manager where his stories of getting blasted and nailing skanks will surely inspire his subordinates to play solid fundamental baseball.

Prognosis - 4th place finish and more debt.

This is how it would have been done under Joe Jr. and Jerry but we can all hope that Moorad has some brains on him before this franchise gets doomed to eternal mediocrity.

The writing is on the wall with Trader Joe; his plan is no plan. Help us Jeff Moorad, you are our only hope..... :jedi:
