I agree that size isn't everything. Just take Barkley. He was an extremely smart defensive player. Just like Rodman, who i think was a brillant defensive player. With the pistons, spurs and bulls. He was smart and played a great mental as well as physical game.

I think size and strength will only get you so far, then your smarts need to kick in. He's too young right now, and you see it when he can be schooled by wiley vets like Vlade. It'll all come with time and experience though. he'll be a defensive monster soon enough because he has the work ethic and desire to be.

Umm. Vlade had the primary defensive assignment on Amare. Amare ate his lunch.

Please, tell me which center in the league Amare doesn't match up with--outside of Shaq.

Right now, Amare is as big as Hakeem or Zo.

Umm, dude i'm talking defesively... not offense. Yes Amare ate his 'lunch' but he needs to get smarter defensively... because vets will eat his 'lunch'. I think he's adequate now but feel he'll be a monster on D soon once he learns the smart little things, players do.

That goes for the rest of the Suns. Part of the reasons I keep hoping the Suns can figure out a way to keep Dice is that he was considered a very good defender before his injury and was about the same size as Amare. Amare could learn a lot even if only by having someone pick his pocket in practice.
