How deep do you want this WR corps? Holy crap, its borderline 7 deep with Boldin as it is.

I think people are obsessed with "the name." Holt is on the downside of his career. I'd rather give playing time to our WRs that we have now.

Agreed. No more signing big name players at the end of their careers.

The price would have to be right for sure but there are many good reasons to consider Holt. Playing on grass will help him prolong his career for one thing. In terms of the offense, whatever speed he may have lost is offset by how good of a route runner that he is. That trait is paramount to Warner's game and Holt may not be fast anymore but he's still quick.

It's nice to think of a burner stretching the defense down the field but the pass protection hasn't consistently held long enough for a deep threat to really be a focus. I think it would be better to have a receiver like Holt who can get off the line quickly, be on the same page as the QB in reading the coverage and keeping the chains moving.

Pace has lobbied for Holt to go to Chicago with him but I can't imagine most WR's choosing a frigid environment over a place like Arizona. With the Warner/Holt connection, NFC West familiarity angle and a speedy slot, Hines Ward-type receiving(not blocking) option, it wouldn't surprise me too much if this happened.

I'm certainly a sentimental fan when it comes to certain players and as much as I think Boldin should stay, his health is becoming a problem and certainly forces the Cardinals to be hesitant in giving him a huge pay raise. There's no arguing how dominant he can be when healthy but there's no denying that he missed 8 games the last two years and came up lame after the 1st playoff game.

As great as he is, he just can't seem to stay on the field. When he is there, he's often at a greatly reduced capacity. If the Cardinals get a 1st & 3rd or something along those lines, I think most fans will be able to appreciate the move fairly quickly since I think he's going to continue to be pretty dinged up over the next couple of years and on the decline.

I'm worried about Doucet since I have no idea why his progress has been so slow. Maybe Whis is just taking it nice a slow on purpose but I really thought he'd have seen the field much more than he did last year. If there's nothing wrong with him though, I think the receiving corps will be "fine" without Boldin. If the trade-off is a better(dare I hope, "good") running game and maybe Holt added to the mix? I say get it done.

I think that Urban playing special teams is one of the reasons why Doucet saw limited playing time. When he played he showed good hands, though.

that may be part of it but he clearly struggled with learning the system...at least to the point that the coaches were comfortable playing him. He had a couple of drops in limited time too. I have a good feeling about him and he looked more good than bad but it still surprised me when Boldin was out that he didn't come in and make his presence felt.

He likely isn't as formidable as Q with the ball in his hands but they're about the same size and build from what I've seen(listed size-Q 6'1", 218, ED 6'0", 211) and I wonder if they will ask him to try and emulate Q or just have him play his game and develop into whatever he's going to be.

I have confidence in him though and year two should be much better for him overall. It's easy to forget that the offense that was in place in week 1 last year evolved quite a bit by the time the Super Bowl rolled around. Not to mention there wasn't a clear cut depth chart in training camp. With things being more settled this year I think it will be easier to get Doucet more involved. Obviously more so if Q is gone.

Just read that Holt was nearing a deal with the Jags.

I think we haven't seen much of doucet for a couple of reasons, none of them really alarming.

1. Fitz, Boldin, Breaston: There are three established guys in front of him. Would anyone really have expected him to out-preform any of these guys knowing what we know now about how Breaston played the season?

2. He was injured early on.

It was discussed on here before that Tory might not like the organization after we released his brother after one year. I don't know if this was complete speculation but if could possibly make sense.

So then we can rule out Tory going to the Lions the Bears and the Saints too.. Pretty soon Tory isnt gonna have any teams to choose between..

I dream about the name Holt. I even tattooed it on my ass. To call this WR corps 7 deep a bit of a stretch bro.

Its a bit of a stretch but not much of one.

Fitz, Boldin, Breaston, Doucet, Urban, Lance Long (who a lot of people here liked but was out due to a numbers game) and Morey (he's a decent depth guy for where he is and a special teams ace).

Holt is old, has injury issues, and has nowhere the speed he once had. Thanks but no thanks, I'd rather give Doucet a chance to develop.

If this team does trade Boldin, signing Holt would make a bunch of sense. Warner would lose the player in Boldin he wanted but would gain a old friend in T.H. who is still a good WR but no longer great. The question is...what do we do if Fitz gets hurt and there is no Boldin? I would sign Holt in a heartbeat if the Boldin trade does go down to cushion the position with quality experience if Fitz got hurt

Forget all the hurt stuff...a deal for about 3+ if Boldin is traded is an excellent safety net at this time. Nice to have him in on any 3rd and 6 to go!!

Torry Holt, WR, Jacksonville JaguarsMonday 4/20, 6:08 PM CT The Jaguars have signed Torry Holt to a three-year deal reportedly worth $20 million, according to the NFL Network.

Our View: The Jaguars are expected to make an official announcement of the signing in the near future. Jacksonville beat out division-rival Tennessee for Holt's services, where he'll replace the released Matt Jones as David Garrard's No. 1 option.

Holy moley! I didn't think Holt was washed up but almost $7M/year?
