He's been on fire lately. Hitting HR's and what not. He was batting <.100 and having a lot of us question his ability...now he is up around .270 almost

If he can keep it there and he can give Brynes some hitting tips then I think we have a chance at the division.. that is if our bullpen starts to play better than a little league teams

It seems like he finally realized that he can just go play the game and not over-analyze things. Every interview I've seen with him he talks about how he's letting his ability take over and not pressing and thinking as much.

The guy has serious power. The home run he hit today looked like it was going to be just a fly out the way it sort of came off the bat. Then it kept drifting and then it was over the wall.

10 game hitting streak!

Yeah a lot of people were hating on him..but everyone has their slumps where they do absolutely nothing at the plate

I admit I was one of the critics. But he along with most of the D-Backs had a hot start but faded down the stretch. No one is questioning his potential just his production. Bump this thread at the end of the year, if he turns into an all star I will admit being wrong.

I myself have said that Justin Upton has the potential to be the next Ken Griffey, Jr.

But asking him to be an all-star this year is perhaps part of the problem.

I would just like to see steady progress. On his part and the part of management in building his confidence. In other words, assigning him a spot in the batting and letting him perform.

Baseball might be the hardest sport out there to be consistent at other than golf, so when the regressing thread about Upton was created, I stayed away because it was still very early, and it seems most players go through these terrible slumps, then break out, then go back in, then break out again. That's just baseball. I have no doubt that Upton will be a really good player, but like was said above me, we need to let him develop instead of placing the expectation crown on his head too soon. Progression is the key for him. I totally agree with that.

His arm is a thing of beauty but I am continuously amazed by his line drive home runs

Him becoming an AS would be the best case scenario. I would say a line of .275, 24 HR, 85 RBI would be progress. Mark Reynolds put up a line like that in his 2nd year with a much lower BA of course, Upton should be at the level of a Mark Reynolds at this point.
