right now i see timmy and marcel being a fairly good comparison. one drafted in the fifth round and not invited to the combine, the other an undrafted rookie free agent. both from smaller schools. both excelled at the smaller schools. both considered to have subpar speed. both had a single year with double digit TDs (granted it was hightower's first year, but let's not credit him with more than he's accomplished). i just think everyone wants to see something in hightower that doesn't really exist. he hasn't shown excellent vision. he hasn't shown amazing wiggle. he hasn't shown an extra gear. he has shown the ability to be a plugger, but again, that mirror's tugboat's career. i'm just not gaga over the dude. he's a nice backup imo.
If you watch the fourth quarter of the NFC Championship game again, you will see where the above is incorrect. Shipp was never capable of that. Ever.

Its not worth arguing over if they thought TH was capable of being an every down RB Edge wouldn't still be on the roster period! They have a plan and it involves getting a real RB, TH is a decent young player but has proven NOTHING when he got the chance to start he is much better when their isn't the pressure of starting and having to produce. Good short yardage back is what he is period the coaching staff knows this hence Edge still on the roster.

Edge is on the roster in case we aren't able to draft a RB.

He needs a better line, and he needs to get real carries.

Love ya lax, but the line is fine. He needs to get better at seeing holes. He will be fine. He got real carries for weeks and didn't do much with them. I like him as a change of pace. He will forever live in Cardinals lore with that TD in the NFC Championship.

Saying that, unless a Moreno or Wells falls into the Cards lap, they will be drafting Alex Mack or the best DE/OLB(Michael Johnson?) available at 31. They will likely address the RB position in round 2 or 3,and may even take one later on, but a 1st round RB, i don't see it.

It ain't Johnson. English , Sintim and now Barwin.

Really? Wow must be because the coaches know they need one because TH is NOT ONE did you not even read the post? Don't you think they would have released Edge if they felt TH and the RB they just signed were good enough? You just like TH I get it but fact is he didn't get it done and he had opportunities he just couldn't do anything with most of them. Some guys have it some guys don't and they end up being change of pace backs and short yardage guys and thats what TH is.

I just don't get how people can make these all encompassing statements about the player like they are Super Scout and leave no room for the possibility that his game will expand. I watched all the same games as you and while he had some issues with dancing he looked great at other times (catching 3rd and 14 and getting the first down with real burst, 30 yard run against St Louis).

Like many of us have pegged DRC for future stardom with his stellar rookie campaign its okay to see a good year from a rookie and think he will continue to get better. In fact its expected.

Let me ask you: How did you feel about Steve Breaston this time last year?

What you stated in the above post is an opinion and a pretty unimformed one at that.

The reality is we can discuss till we are blue in the face but we will have to see who is more correct once TC starts. Hopefully Tim is working his butt off and proves me right.

Just wanted to clarify that Marcel Shipp never got to double digits in TDs.

He had 9 in 2002. 6 rushing and 3 receiving. 2002 was his first season used at RB. He played only special teams his rookie year in 2001.

nashman, you love Edge and are delusional in thinking he will be on the team next year, I get it. AZsouth i agree he needs to hit the hole harder, but it's hard for him to hit the hole hard on delayed shotgun handoffs when lyle is trying to lead the way in front of you. Players get better, 10 regular season td's for a rookie (cardinal rookie record) is a good start.

I like HT, but I have to agree that his vision is very average at best. We need someone who compliments his style & that guy is McCoy from Pitt. If we go RB, this is the guy we need to draft. He has OUTSTANDING vision, a lot of wiggle & can get the tough yards. Does Curtis Martin ring a bell? I'm not a Pitt homer (actually a 'Cuse fan), but I have seen a lot of this guy & he will be a Pro Bowl RB in the NFL. If he's there at 31, we better take him.

That is somewhat suspect. But that's where HT comes in hopefully. He's going to need to work a lot on his lower body.

Syracuse I know Edge is not going to be on the team what the hell are you talking about? I said the only reason he hasn't been released is they don't have a RB yet and TH is not it clearly or Edge would have been released. Quite frankly I hope Edge isn't on the team so he can go somewhere and play because clearly there is a rif between him and Whiz. Hopefully the cards can get someone to replace him so that we don't have to depend on TH, because that would be a sad situation!
