Since we're clearly on track to pick a QB early in the first round, I've been wondering if Whiz is the right guy to develop Luck/Mallet/Newton/whoever. If you'll remember, Whisenhunt and Roethlisberger never got along in Pittsburgh despite all of their success. Here's an excerpt from an azcentral story leading up to the Super Bowl (damn that seems like a long time ago now):

Since then, Roethlisberger has made it clear that he doesn't care for Whisenhunt's methods or his play calling. He said he disagreed with his former offensive coordinator on a lot of things during their time in Pittsburgh. He called Whisenhunt's offense "predictable." He even sympathized with Matt Leinart when the Cardinals' former starting quarterback was enduring some tough love from the coaching staff.

And we all know that Whiz and Matty L were never on the same page. I understand that two instances is a ridiculously small sample size but it's all that we have to go on at this point.

I know that Whiz has the reputation of being extremely demanding from his QB's so maybe he just rubs some guys the wrong way and Ben and Leinart were just the wrong type of guys, personality wise, for Whiz's coaching style but I have to wonder how he'll do with a new rookie like Luck/Mallet/etc.

PS. And just to be clear, I'm not calling for Whiz to be fired or anything. I'm more just wondering aloud how things will play out over the next couple of years.

If we draft a QB we damn sure better hire a good QB coach to bring him along......or just cut the kid the day after we sign him.

no because he will always prefer a veteran to him..look like daryl washinghton-lenon or bryan robinson.dan williams case..if you are a talent you can play from day one...and then is not even able to develop also his staff
