The New York Islanders are reportedly close to signing Colorado College junior and top college free agent, Gleb Veremyev, per insider Frank Seravalli.
Veremyev, 21, is a left-handed forward who scored 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) in 37 games with the Tigers in 2024-25.
This was a step back from his strong production in the 2023-24 season where he registered 28 points (15 goals, 13 assists) in 37 games.
The Monroe Township, New Jersey native, whose parents emigrated from Russia, stands at 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, and possesses a pro-style build that enables him to win crucial puck battles and drive the net to generate offense.
While he is a true power forward, he also brings a high level of skill and creativity, allowing him to beat goaltenders in tight areas around the crease.

Defensively, he has shown improved awareness in the defensive zone and has become more effective with his stick, often disrupting opponents by knocking them off the puck during physical battles.

His work ethic is best seen with his relentless pressure on the forecheck -- a skill that makes him a coach's dream and an opponent's nightmare, and one that serves him well in his pursuit of an NHL future.
Veremyev would likely spend some time developing with the Bridgeport Islanders in the AHL, but with GM Lou Lamoriello emphasizing a desire to get younger this offseason, it would not be surprising if Veremyev emerged as a candidate for the NHL roster as early as the 2025–26 season.
Until then, it is expected he would develop his game with Bridgeport.
