It Is Now Time For Towers To Work The Phone and Get A new Closer ... Fast!!!

It is now easy to see that the Heath Bell Experience is Finished, Done, Kaput! He just does not have the stuff to be a closer anymore! He has given up a home run in each of his last five outings. The crowd was so quiet when he came in tonight. They new what was about to happen. It is time to make a change, and I don't mean putting JJ Putz back in the closers role. Either try to find a young stud back-up man or a veteran that could be on the trade market as teams fall out of the races. I would even entertain putting Hernandez in the role of closer until they are able to find a permanent solution.

Who are some legitimate closers that could be had for a trade?

The Pirates have pitching depth all day long but not much offensively. We got two guys lighting it up in Triple-A that will never see the field here.

I was at the game and you could feel the doubt of 30,000+ fans when the "Heath Bell Experience" came in. Then he gave up more runs in 0+ innings than Patrick Corbin gave up in 8.

Then you could then feel the hate of 30,000+ fans as Blown-Save-Bell walked off the field.

Corbin had broken up the no-hitter to start the rally, followed by Parra's 2-run HR to take the lead. He deserved to win this game. What more could he do? Except pitch a shutout every time out. He is a quality pitcher.

If my numbers are right, Patrick Corbin has started 14 games this season and the D'backs have won 13 of them.

BTW, if there is one batter beside Goldy that I want to see at-bat with the tying and winning runners on base, it's Kubel. The man is a professional!

The Dbacks will need to get in line for a closer. There are quite a few contending teams that are suffering the same problem. Boston and Detroit come to mind right away. I think J.J. will need to show he can return to form 1st before that call is made.

He doesn't give up runs and I am never worried when he comes in. Bell needs to be gone and let one of the young arms stay like brewer. Anyways Zeigler is our man.

Typically I would disagree because he isn't you're typical hard throwing closer that I am accustomed to seeing, but in this case I think it's fair to say that he could at least be a solid closer. Batters have a very hard time squaring up the ball against him and he is good at pitching in high pressure situations. The one thing I don't like about moving him from his current role is that he is the only pitcher in the bullpen that is capable of getting a ground ball at will and thus we would be creating a whole in those situations.

One of the inevitable facts about being a baseball fan in 2013 is that you are almost always going to spend a lot of time listening to other fans gripe about the closer. It comes with the territory of being a fan nowadays.

Unless your a Yankee fan and have had the pleasure of watching Mariano Rivera for the last 15 years or so, you’re probably filled with grief and anxiety when games reach the 7th inning. Hell, maybe even the 6th inning...

He definitely deserves a shot. He's not overpowering but he rarely gives up a home run and he makes outs. He might give up 3 ground ball singles and blow a game every once in a while but he'd be infinitely better than any of the 3 stooges.

Putz has started his rehab assignment and when he is healthy, he is one of the best. He should be back by Thursday if there are no setbacks. Put Collmenter in there until then.

According to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com the plan is for Putz to pitch Thursday and Saturday, take Sunday off, and then try to work back-to-back games on Monday and Tuesday. If that all goes well, he’d likely come off the disabled list in the middle of next week.

I know he gagged a few games ago, but Hernandez would certainly be a suitable closer option for now. His WHIP is a good third less than that of Bell and Putz this season.

Never overpay for closers. Go look around the league, about 8/10 closers give their teams fans heart attacks every time they take the mound. And of those two "reliable" guys only one of them will stay good year after year.

While Cishek is coming up on his first year of arbitration don't expect him to be moved. They would like to move Dunn (who is awful) but for the most part the bullpen has issues and Cishek is 27 and affordable and wont be a free agent until 2018
