Things have changed..Can't you just feel the difference in this team? This team is better and it's showing.

We have been in postions to win every game and 5 were decided by a field goal or less. The talent has been here but more importantly now is the coaching. Just look at Calvin Pace and you can see the change. We owe a lot to coach wiz now its up to the players to step up even more.

We can come out of the bye strong and really make a push to have some meaningful games down the strectch...

There is no questioning this team has a lot of talent and the defense being together the last few years has really started to come on with the "beef" in the middle in Watson. He helps make the others on the line better. Winning the battles on the OLine and DLine will keep you in alot of ballgames. But as Duckjake is fond of saying...."This team needs to stop shooting there self in the foot and win some games". Or at least he likes to point out when the announcers say it. We have said for a long time that if they win the trenches they will win games.

Funny the difference just one game can make--

the last 10 years after seven games (not including this year):

1-6 two times
2-5 six times
3-4 once (1998 - made the playoffs!)
4-3 once (finished 1-8)

The median result -- 2-5 means that the team's chances of the playoffs are pretty much dead. Looking at the final scores from those years, the way the team played suggested little hope of going 7-2 over the final 9 games to get to a winning record or the playoffs.

So yes -- it does feel different. 3-4 means that the team is still alive. The way they have played says that they have a chance in the remaining 9 games to go 6-3 or 7-2.

Agree with the thread and with Rats point. Having a good defense and an offensive line that can move the pile makes everything different. Especially coming from our perspective where we have suffered through some of the worst defenses and worst offensive lines since 99 or so, in the recorded history of football. Remember that defense where we had something like 20 sacks for the whole year? The one with Worthless Wendell. How did we even survive that? And don't even get me started on some of the offensive lines we've had to watch.

This team is reeling on the brink of consistently winning football. I've never been so sure of it.

The more things change, the more they stay the same IMO...

This was a TYPICAL Cardinal loss...

I agree completely, it felt like major league regression to me.

Team as a stock is heading for the basement, fumbling bumbling to less than mediocrity again.

I see it differently. I know there will be naysayers, but I see things different from the past. Doesn't mean we don't have heartbreakers, just feel the compass is in the right direction. Time will tell

Great threat Redheart. I feel the same way. I credit Whiz, Graves (I know, I know) and most importantly... the fans.

The people of Arizona made this happen. The biggest part was getting the stadium built. It is impossible IMO to be a successfull football team when your first 4-5 games every season are on the road. Now that it isn't 4000 degrees, and they have a real homefield advantage, these guys are remembering why they play the game (other than to put 22s on their Hummers of course).

we're not getting our doors blown in on the road - that's a sign of progress in of itself. I mean, we've played four road games, won one of them and the other three all came down to the last play - that's a huge difference from the weekly pummeling this team has taken on the road since 2003. The losses are painful, but at least that means we're actually ALIVE as opposed to just feeling like a corpse after 44-3 poundings at the hands of horrific Cleveland teams or 22-7 shellacking at the hands of the previously winless Raiders.

We're mediocre right now - and actually, that's a huge change. Baby steps, baby steps.

This coaching staff rocks. My biggest hope for the Cards is because we have Whiz at the helm. We are fortunate that PITT hired Tomlin. Whiz is the man, he's made some ballsy calls. More of them will go our way. I know we currently have a losing record, but this team has me feeling good.

Go Cards!

this team has me frustrated - but that's a good thing after 4 of 5 years of literally looking at them as a laughingstock. It's a painful sign of progress as far as I'm concerned.

I totally agree that this team feels different. It should be obvious to virtually everyone who has been watching this franchise over the years.

One of the things that really irked me about Cardinals teams of the past was that the type (quality) of coaches that were here never were succesful in coaching young incomig talent into NFL talent. With Whiz and his fine staff...they seem to be doing what past Cardinals coaching staffs could not.

Interesting stats and post. Thanks.

I had no idea it has been that bad.

Wow, we have already accomplished a lot this year.

Great stats, put things in perspective for me.
