Pay him his value to the team and his role. Give him security

His value is that of a 5th WR and returner. I know folks are getting excited with 1 or 2 flashy plays a game. He misses blocks quite a bit and played WR like a returner. I also noticed he struggles to get separation on deep routes. He's a limited player who is able to help out when better players are hurt. If the want to give him $4 million over 3 years, sure. We have control for one more season, so I'd tender him an see how it plays out. Let someone else overpay for him if they want to.

I guess. I'd probably bring all of them into camp, regardless. I just would prefer a developmental off-ball linebacker who can play special teams. Literally doesn't matter, and you kind of say.

Both Dortch and Gillikin are replaceable enough cogs that I don't pay them more than $2 million in guaranteed money -- maybe combined -- to keep them around.

We'll hardly be punting next season -- if we punt at all -- anyway.
Gillikin ranks 4th in gross avg, at just over 50 YPP...and 8th in Net YPP. Be careful what you wish for.

Who cares? What's the difference between 8 and 16?

This is like the Prater Discourse. Yes, he's very good. But you're going to get 95% of that quality for 60% of the price that you could use instead on better players at higher-impact positions.

I don’t trust those projections at all. Seems rich to me unless you expect Dortch to take Rondale Moore’s job next season. If we add two starting-caliber WRs in the offseason, I’d prefer these targets go to Michael Wilson.
I guess it depends on what value you put on Dortch returning punts.

If we drafted a developmental off-ball LB along with Pappoe, you could just cut whomever at that time. That is what I like about bringing a lot of these guys back. They are cheap, and they shouldn't prevent you from adding a better player if you can.

I agree the Cardinals should not pay a P any contract that prevents them from signing anyone else.

One is buying the 5% because that qualitative difference is relevant. If it wasn't they wouldn't pay it.

side question for anyone who knows--if the cardinals intend on building around Murray can the restructure his deal and spread it out a little better to free up some more cap $$?
Could be done but you’d have to add years and money otherwise no motivation for him.
