Sources: D-backs' Perdomo lands $45M extension
Shortstop Geraldo Perdomo and the Diamondbacks are in agreement on a four-year, $45 million contract extension that also has a club option, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

My guess is that he plays a utility role at some point this season, and then takes over at 3rd next season (assuming he doesn’t suck out loud when given a chance this season).

Nah, he'll be packaged with Montgomery to get him off the roster and clear most of his $22 million and maybe get a decent RP in return
That would be an awful waste of assets. Basically the Swanson / Miller trade all over again.
You don't trade a top 10 prospect in the entire MLB unless you are getting a superstar. Clase is the only reliever out there that would make sense here.
The most likely outcome is that Lawlar takes Geno's spot at 3rd next year. One of Geno or Naylor re-signs and plays 1B.
