It's great to know the Cards are 4-4, until you realize...

This season has 7-9 and a mediocre draft pick written all over it :barf:

If they win more than 5 games it will be surprising. If you have no chance at winning a championship, time to "play the young guys". Flush.

It's time to believe. Against all odds we will prevail... or something.

This team has no business winning 7 games... but in true Cards fashion, we’ll find some way to screw up losing like we should and end up with that mediocre pick...
We realistically only have two “winnable” games left on the schedule: Texans and Giants. Which would leave us at 6 wins if we do actually win those games. But yea, we’ll mess it up and find some screwy way to get to 7... [emoji35]

Which might even mean bringing back the entire gang... which would be awful.

This team def wins 6 or 7 meaningless, ugly games.

I highly doubt 6-7 wins means the entire gang returns. Rather, it would likely mean that changes will be made to coordinators and position coaches. A complete demolition wouldn't occur unless BA retires and the ensuing HC brings his own coaches with him.

6 doesn't, but I'm guessing 7 gets mostly everyone back sans Amos. But Bettcher's fat useless ass comes back in that scenario I fear AND we don't draft a QB again so we can take another worthless 1st rounder who won't make an impact next year.

What team on the second half of the schedule scares anybody? Houston, Jax, Wash, Tennessee, Rams at home????????????? Even Seattle in Seattle hasn't been dominant this year.

Granted the Cards are going to struggle with Stanton at the helm but that's why I was hoping the Cards would be at .500 for the second half to make a playoff run. Of course, that was with Palmer at QB. We'll never know but 10 wins was not out of the question had Palmer stayed healthy. Now, I'd say 6 is likely and 8 is beast case scenario.

All I can ask for is staying right around 0.500 and be in the playoff hunt until the very end. I've never been a fan of tanking. If Arians somehow keeps the ship afloat with Stanton at QB and a run-heavy approach - and remember we could get DJ and Palmer back down the stretch - then he has deserved another shot next year. If you can scheme around Stanton's horrible accuracy, you can for sure do it with a much more talented rookie QB. It's up to Arians to prove he can do it!

They've gotten there beating 3 teams with a combined record of 5 and 21.

You are what your record is.

Last year we were a 7-8-1 team that underachieved, and were going to be great this year.....

Before I bury the team, because I agree they do not pass the eye test with their 4-4 record.....they are still, in fact, 4-4.

There are a lot of bad teams in the NFL that are worse than the Cardinals. We have all commented on the state of the league as a whole and its sloppy play.

The Cardinals are the best of the bad ?

I don't mind our playcalling
You should, defenses know what’s coming most of the time, it’s not very good. And many time just doesn’t make any sense at all, hence all the 3 and outs or 3rd and longs. Teams with less offensive talent than us use creativity and get guys wide open or run out of passing sets, we look behind most.

I think the bigger issue was the line not making holes for runners, letting Palmer get creamed every play and the WRs being hobbled to start the year. It doesn't matter what plays you call if the RB has nowhere to go and the QB is getting hassled within 1 second.

Fair enough, my counter would be as I said less talented teams do it with creative playcalling. How many times did we line up yesterday with one wide everyone else bunched up like freaking goal line run? So dumb, no pitches to get AD on an edge, no running from 2-3 wide out formation, something to give AP a nonstacked box. And pulling AP on 3rd and shorts...just silly!

Are you serious? Are you reading your own posts? The only team with a losing record remaining on our schedule is New York Giants. Jacksonville, Tenneesee, and Houston are all 2 games over .500. We got shut out and lost by 33 points to the Rams on a neutral field. Don't pretend that game is gonna be a walk-through.

We were 3-4 with Palmer starting against one of the softest schedules in the league — playing pretty much every awful team except the Browns. With Palmer we were a bad offense.

Well poop, as Ap goes the cards go in 2017, I still think the D can stand up and play better than they have, or D has the talent to win games scoring or holding. So far we have won every other game -

I am sure that 150 yards from AP and our D clicking on all cylinders we can compete in a playoff game with Stanton or Gabbert-

Conversely, if someone said during preseason that the Cards would be 4-4 at mid season w/o Palmer or Johnson, I'd be most would be content.
Palmer was available for 7 of those games.

I’m the guys who said 3 weeks ago that this is a 7-9 team, and got called a homer for doing so, but we don’t have a lot of control over our destiny for the playoffs or anything.

Yes Palmer played but the offense also had 4 guys who have little business being in the league in Wetzel, Watford, Williams and Jim Dray much less starting games for them.

But I can see where you compare those guys talent level/playing ability to Humphries, Boone, AP, and Gresham.

Also, regardless of current record, the two strongest teams the Cards have left on their schedule are Seattle and the Rams. It's the NFL and any home game is winnable.
