Another good post, but I think you're totally mistaken when you say he's lost it. Put him back in the schemes about 5 years ago and tell me if he's lost it? You think he can't make those plays? My point is he's got game left and isn't being used right. I don't know how you can argue that point, you seem to like the guy and understand his game, and it's obvious they haven't used him correctly in 2 or 3 years...

I don't think Adub can make those plays. I swear you can see him hesitate before he hits somebody. Sunday was the first time in a while I've seen him just go ahead and knock the snot out of somebody. Injuries? Maybe but he's not the only NFL player I've seen doing that this year. I guess NFL teams need to practice tackling shoulder first now. Times have changed. Instead of being in the NFL Hall of Fame Night Trane Lane would be kicked out of the NFL today for the way he tackled people

He looked the best he's looked in over a year on Sunday. Two plays stick out in my mind immediately. In the first quarter just before Pittsburgh's first touchdown, when he clobbered Mendenhall and got called for a facemask (which wasn't). Then in the third, he smashed Ward, who had to leave the game after the hit. He was flying around the whole game, and it was also the first time this season I didn't see a wrap on his right arm — the one with the torn tendon. I think he's back, and he's going to fire up this defense. Get ready!

I thought so too at first, but it clearly was. His hand got stuck in his facemask and turned his helmet around. Easy call.

THIS ONE IS FOR YOU KOC. TIM WE DID IT.
When I picture the Adub of the past, what I see is a mental image of him slicing through the Offensive line and hitting a RB and just plastering him, or hitting a QB and just killing him. We haven't seen any of that, really, since 08. Maybe a little in 09. He's not a run-stuffer anymore, and rarely rushes the QB.

I am going to have to disagree on this point. He has lit some people up since 08-09. He even showed a glimse of speed and power last week, but the facemask called it back.
If I remember correctly he had an awesome game was itlast year? against the Rams I thought he had like 2 INT, FG block, FF and sack. And remember he is the only player to return both a fumble and an INT for 99 yards. Again, not sure if this was after 2009.

Wilson has lost his edge I agree with the change of rules and his age, but I think what Horton is doing with him and what he can still offer is baffling. Dude is still a lot better then what he has been allowed to show and I blame Horton for not seeming to know the strength and weakness of his players. If Horton intends on being stubborn and sacrifice player's special talents for a system, then yes Wilson has to go next season because even when young his style would not fit what Horton is asking of him.

This.

Totally agree, good post.

Who was it he hit few years back and they had a cow? Some Bills player I think, he creamed the guy, knocked him out of the game in the first quarter (it was maybe the first play). In any case, you have a valid point.
Trent (d)Edwards. That hit ruined the Bills' undefeated season, Edwards' career, and the Bills franchise for a while. Just absolute brutality.

As for A-Dub. He's my favorite player. Fitz is a close #2, but the way A-Dub stuck it out with the garbage franchise we were (and sadly are again, with so many talented players too) means a lot to me. I'd give him a run at OLB before putting him out to pasture. He's fast, hits hard, and Haggans and Porter (especially) are not getting it done. I also love Porter, taking a pay-cut, staying here to teach the youngsters to take his job, says a lot about the person he is and would love to keep him on as a mentor role. But I'd give A-Dub a fighting chance at starting OLB before giving up hope on the guy, the organization owes him at least that much

In The End Zone
i have always loved wilson. was stoked when we took that bizarre flyer on him in the 3rd round back in the day due to this size/speed ratio. and was stoked that he panned out. that said, i think he's done. he's never been great in coverage, and now he's just flat out awful.

if this past sunday's game was him being "back" we're in big trouble. yeah he had two plays that stood out, but he also let miller walk into the endzone without anyone being within 15 yards of him. and i'm sorry, i've never seen that happen that wide open to the steelers, so it can't be scheme. that's just wilson, AGAIN, not knowing where to be or freelancing.

it saddens me to say it, but adrian's played his last truly effective start-to-end game for the cardinals. and we have no replacement.

He's my favorite player on the team. Yes, even over Fitz. It was Boldin, now the baddest **** on the team is AW. FFS, he is out there with a dangling bicep. That is some AQ crap for sure. I love Adrian. I wear his jersey to games. But he isn't who he used to be. Not even close. He never could cover but he made up for it...now he can't make up for it, and it is killing the team. We have NO depth at safety, on either side, and my boy is dying every day as an NFL athlete. And his entire game is predicated on his athleticism.

I hate, hate, hate to agree here, but I have to. Adrian is on his last legs. I hope the hell they have something strong left in them.
