Hoping for the best, expecting the worst.

Over/under he allows 8 pass completions on Sunday?

BW deserves a great deal of credit. He works his tail off and in doing so he has accelerated his growth. The learning and adjusting period continues, so he and the coaches need to be patient.

I would imagine that Williams will have A LOT of S help. Looking at NE with Butler (UDFA) & Ryan (3rd rounder), hopefully BW comes out of nowhere like they did and make an immediate impact.

My guess is that he gives up 100 yards, maybe a couple of TD's but has a couple of breakups.

Bums me out Bethel's foot is still an issue. I agree that BW will get a bunch of help and now Betcher's ability to scheme around a "weakness" will be seen.

1981 40'niners NFL draft Bill Walsh selected Ronnie Lott - CB rnd 1 ---- Eric Wright - CB rnd. 2 ------ Carlton Williamson - S rnd. 3 . All three started and played the season and Niners won the Super Bowl . I'm not going to worry to much about Williams starting .

Meh. Not expecting a lot of positive stuff.

But he did hold his own vs a top 5 WR in DeAndre Hopkins in the preseason game so I'm hoping that same Brandon Williams shows up.

I beg to differ: http://deadspin.com/a-truly-devastating-juke-1785540005

Brandon Williams was not good in this game, either. He is not good. He got worse as the preseason went on. The hope is that he was working on his off-man technique during games and the press coverage skills we've heard so much about were being hidden at practice.

A good defense can hide a below-average corner, but it's going to make someone worse.

If I were an OC and saw that preseason tape on Brandon I would game plan and attack him until he gets pulled and benched. Then I would attack the guy that will replace him which is a gimpy Bethel.

I never said he was good. I mean, I literally just said I'm not expecting a lot of positive stuff in the post above.

I just remember him not being absolutely terrible in the the Texans game like he was in the Raiders game. So, no, I don't think he got worse as the preseason went on. Don't remember much of anything about the Chargers game minus the Keenan Allen juke.

Yet again, he gave up 1 catch that game. You can keep shoveling the same manure though if you like.

You have to keep PP strictly on Edelman the whole game. Amendola and gronk are banged up and BW should be on hogan who will start on the outside. If jimmy g see BW on Jules it's game over. Jimmy seems pretty confident when I talked to him last week that he can exploit certain match ups.

Mitch, I disagree that our coaches need to be patient with him as a starting CB. The Cardinals are a team that's built to win now. The window is closing not only with BA, but also with CP. if we don't get home field advantage, getting to the SB will be almost impossible. Seattle, GB, and Carolina are extremely good home teams. Every game is critical this season. Simply no time to be patient with a rookie CB.

All the players and coaches have given positive reviews on Williams. They know what kind of team they have and know they are SB contenders. If they think he's good enough to start, I'm certainly okay with it. We'll see how it works out.

I'm more concerned with Shipley at C as he's shown through the years that he's not a legit starting NFL center. Williams, at least, is a rookie so it's hard to have any valid opinion on him to this point.
