Penn St. BOT just announced Paterno and Graham Spanier are out. Hard to argue against their decision. It's the right move.

It was the right call. PSU had to disassociate itself from everyone involved if they want to move on. Plus, if what we've read about the situation so far is true and JoePa knew about the incident and didn't tell the police, he doesn't deserve to finish the season and walk off into the sunset.

Also, if JoePa wanted the trustees to focus on everything other than him like he said in his statement, he should have resigned. By not resigning, he forced them to focus on him. They couldn't just ignore him or the situation of him staying on as HC.

I thought the rally in support of Joe had to opposite effect. Certainly he's entitled to due process and the benefit of the doubt but in the wake of allegations of child rape its hard to watch Joe being portrayed as the victim right now. It may end up that he is completely an innocent victim but he'll never be a victim like any of those kids were.

I've seen a lot of students angry and running around on TV. Hopefully it doesn't get out of hand. If it does, they need to consider either cancelling or postponing the game on Saturday. They don't need the student section rioting there.

I don't understand how McQueary is being allowed to stay on. He is the one who observed the crime. He has more of an obligation than Paterno to report it to police, since he is a direct witness, yet no action is taken against him for doing nothing.

I think Paterno killed what little chance, if he had any chance, of staying when he issued that statement earlier today. After what it appears that he did or did not do in the whole situation, the PSU trustees couldn't be seen as bending to Paterno's will.

No morals whatsoever, disgusting. Football is more important than humanity at Penn State, I guess. It's still a huge PR stunt, Penn State hid this for 8 friggin years and never did anything about it, the only reason why they're out is due to the media coverage. Pathetic...

Sandusky was investigated by campus police and local law enforcement for showering with a boy in 1998, admitted to wrongdoing, but not charged or convicted - just told "Don't shower with boys again."

Paterno, Spanier, and others would have known about this back then and it is likely why Sandusky "decided" to retire after one more year of coaching.

Makes their future inaction even more alarming when Sandusky is seen molesting a boy in the same showers 4 years later.

And some people want to treat Joe Pa like he is some kind of victim in all of this?

that people are rioting FOR Joe Paterno just shows how out of wack our society's priorities are.

the man is pond scum as far as I'm concerned, as is everyone else involved.

good riddance and may he burn in hell.

Wow...That's absolutely insane. They also mentioned Sandusky still had an office at Penn and was there just a week ago? I don't know how someone could live with themselves knowing what he did, and then to literally just turn your back as if nothing happened. This all could've been prevented had someone been an actual human being, but peoples reputations were more important, really sad.
