As a DE - Branch holds the edge, can penetrate, and is athletic enough to chase down the line. As a NT, for perhaps lack of technique, he tends to get washed down the line - ergo, let's use him where he is of most service - DE.

We have to look at the Paris Lenon signing as an improvement to the roster because of the extreme lack of talent we have at that position. Although we are still grossly inadequate at ILB. We are better off with Lenon than we are with Highsmith/Walker (I think/hope). We obviously hope a talented rookie is there to unseat him, but at least we aren't still talking about Highsmith/Walker/Monty B. as our starting WILB.

I don't see that Lenon is any better than Beisel. Monty could likely have put up those same numbers for Detroit.

Besides Paris has never recovered a fumble and run it into the end zone to enable the Cards to beat Dallas.

Surprisingly Branch got on average more then 15 snaps per game at DE last year.

Has Lenon ever played ILB in a 3-4? I don't think he has. Looks like he'll have a learning curve as well.

He was with New England last preseason, but they cut him during final cuts.

We will have to see for ourselves about Lenon. Right now it's a great mystery as to what the Cardinals saw in him to actually prefer him over Larry Foote. I am hoping for the best.

The Cardinals have made it very clear that they did not make a choice between Foote and Lenon, but rather wanted both of them. They saw Foote as a SILB and Lenon as a WILB. Graves made that very clear.

The Beisel of two years ago was fine, but for whatever reason he looked terrible last season IMO. He got released by an AWFUL Chiefs defense.

I've been expecting the Cards to draft a new WILB in the first or second round as soon as Dansby hit free agency. I've been ambivalent about every FA name that came up this year because I never thought they'd be bringing in anyone who's going to start more than half of this season anyway. Paris Lenon is the starter for now just like Eric Green was the starter over DRC and Edge started over Hightower who started over Wells.

Pretty surprising that they would say were interested in a LB high in the draft. I mean, its pretty clear that we are, but teams usually play the smoke and mirrors game. I would have expected him to mask Lennons lack of talent as a "veteran LB with experience in many defenses" or something along those lines.

Hey, it's draft time. Misinformation is to be expected. Do you really think they would say "Gosh, if we don't get a solid WILB in the draft we're hosed?" Say goodbye to Paris' productivity, not to mention raising salary expectations for any drafted LB.

I think what you are saying is just good common sense. Paris Lenon is the starting WILB until we draft or trade for better. The Cardinals can't say a draft pick is going to be their starting WILB without knowing a drafted rookie is ready to start.
