The guy is great at bringing in guys to fit his system. I read somewhere that initially he wasn't interested in drafting Tony Parker because he thought he was a small, soft European PG. R.C. Buford had to convince him to look at the scouting tape again and the rest is history.

I'm never going to be any kind of Spurs fan as long as the Suns are playing. Having said that by God I rooted for Pop's boys vs the stinkin' Heat.

I hate the Spurs but I respect the hell out of Pops. I have ZERO doubt if he was our coach versus Pringles during that great run we would have something to hang in the rafters.

It seems to me Pops was coaching Bowen and Horry back then.

He was also coaching alot of other guys as well. This guy doesn't get enough credit for his X's and O's and outsmarting other coaches. Watch in game adjustment on a POP team versus a Pringles team. No contest.

I did. Nasty hip check by Horry against Nash likely costing the Suns that series.

Players do a alot of stupid things that are not reflective of a coach. Robert Horry also behaved badly here. You are cherry picking. Most of Pops players he has coached do not behave that way and I don't think Pop ordered a hit on Nash. What I mean by that is he may have said foul that guy but Pop does not strike me as the type that would say go hurt that guy.

Look at most "thugs" in the NBA. Even with team switches, they do the same crap. Besides that's not what I was referring too but I think you know that. I am talk about his strategic play calling, switching up offensive and defensive schemes.

I know. :)

Just can't support anything related to the Spurs.
