I was excited when Denny Green signed on.
Listening to him, initially, I liked his rather nimble mind. Got the feeling of guy playing chess with people who barely understood chequers.
I was quite supportive of his decision to start Josh, and the sense that, short of injury – he’d get a full season to develop.
I was surprised, like many, when he dumped Kendall… but understood that every new Coach fires someone of note because they question the new program.
I was perplexed by all of the O-line changes, which in effect turned every lineman into a virtual rookie at their position. My sense was that Green planned to allow Josh and this line to gel together and that he understood that it would take time. Much the same could be said for the evolving of a passing game. Talented as they are, they are still young to their positions and responsibilities. All, I thought - would essentially share the failings and the glory.
Then suddenly - after a win - JOSH is out… the blame is disproportionably placed on him, and Green adds insult by using essentially the same language to sing the praises of his replacement.
A two game experiment…and now NAVARRE with the same sort of accolades.
I’m confused, needless to say, but as a CARDS fan I can only hope that he’s right.
However, I have the sneaking feeling that Coach Green is more “idiot” than “savant”.
