The Orlando Magic, already in serious trade talks with the Washington Wizards about acquiring Gilbert Arenas, are close to pulling off a separate trade with the Phoenix Suns, according to league sources.
The proposed trade, which one source gave a "90 percent" chance of happening, would return former Magic star Hedo Turkoglu, along with Jason Richardson, to Orlando in exchange for Vince Carter and Marcin Gortat.
The deal is likely to be completed within the next 24 hours, according to the sources.
"It's safe to say that it's imminent," one source said. "It's very close. There's always a chance it could fall apart, but it's 90 percent done."

The deal is believed to involve either a few extra players or draft picks, sources said.

I think this trade deserves its own thread...

I like the full trade but I don't see the point in Pietrus, unless we are shopping Childress

Looks like we give up Earl Clark as well... I am still sure Earl Clark will be a good player if given solid minutes over some time.

Not a huge fan of Gortat at 7M$ per season for 3 more years after this one.

We still don't have a PF after this trade.

Vince Carter is an expiring contract and Pietrus has 1 year left and is a good defender.

Still we have Carter, Pietrus, Hill, Dudley and Childress at the 2/3.

Thank god the Hedo gamble is over and did not cost us mutliple first round picks.

Great trade I think. We finally get a BEAST interior tandem of Lopez-Gortat and Pietrus is a lock down defender and good 3pt shooter.

But the problem is that Childress becomes the new Earl Clark and sits on the bench all season unless someone else gets injured or get in foul trouble.

But then once Carter's contract expires, the Childress will get A LOT more playing time.

Jared Dudley is tweeting like it's already happened.

Still trying to figure out the Suns reasoning for wanting Pietrus included. I like the defense he brings, but the position is still overloaded.

Looking at the deal myself, we traded J-Rich (who we might not have resigned and can still possible resign if Orlando doesn't resign him), Earl Clark (Who we didn't pick up the option on and would lose anyway at the end of the season), and Hedo who was a big mistake for Carter, (an expiring but with a 4 million clause to terminate his contract at the end of the year), Gortat (A position we need), Pietrus (another trade piece?, short contract exp 2012 I believe,) a lower first round pick, and 3 million in cash to help offset the option on Carter's contract.

Not that bad IMHO. I am sure we aren't done trading. Could be the start of the end of the Nash era though.

Gortat can play PF. He's got the quickness.

Could mean more trades coming. I still wonder if Nash gets traded.

I think it is up to Nash at this point. If the right teams comes calling and Nash wants to go he will be gone.

ESPN is now reporting it as a done deal, there has to be one more move out there. With Gortat here now we could move Lopez. I am not saying that I think that would be good but packaged with either Childress or Frye we might be able to fetch an above average PF.

The Suns need a third PG irregardless so dealing for another PG would not surprise me. Just curious, does anyone know how Scottie Reynolds is working out?

Not sure what to think about this one...I'm glad they're switching it up, and we definitely improved on our defense/rebounding, but it doesn't help the swing man logjam. I wonder if there is a corresponding trade in the works...

Does Sarver ever make a deal that doesn't include "Cash Considerations!"

Think of it like Childress is injured for the season.

Then we'll have enough players at every position. Childress is injured right now anyway but he'll play once Carter's contract expires.

So here's the 2 & 3 depth chart:

SG: Carter, Pietrus, Childress
SF: Hill, Dudley, Childress
