Jack Flaherty is scheduled to be on the bump for the Detroit Tigers in their home opener Friday afternoon against the Chicago White Sox.

Flaherty, the right-handed second pitcher in the Tigers' five-man starting rotation, is set to make his second start of the season with right-hander Jonathan Cannon starting for the White Sox at Comerica Park.

Right-hander Reese Olson is scheduled to start on Saturday against Chicago's Davis Martin and Tigers rookie Jackson Jobe is slated for Sunday against left-hander Martin Perez.

All five Tigers (2-4) starters have pitched at least one game. Ace Tarik Skubal started the second round through the rotation by closing the series against the Seattle Mariners in a 3-2 loss on Wednesday.

Flaherty started the second game of the season-opening series against the Dodgers. He threw 5⅔ innings and allowed two runs on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts on 83 pitches. Flaherty had a stretch where he retired 11 batters in a row, but exited after giving up a two-run home run to Freddie Freeman.

Flaherty re-signed with Detroit on a two-year, $35 million contract in free agency to bolster the starting pitching rotation. He signed a one-year deal for the 2024 season and had a 2.95 ERA with 19 walks and 133 strikeouts across 106⅔ innings in 18 starts for the Tigers.

He was traded to the Dodgers at the July deadline in exchange for shortstop Trey Sweeney and highly-touted catching prospect Thayron Liranzo.
