Seriously, I don't get the backlash at Ebert at all.

Let's break it down:

1. Jackass' star Ryan Dunn, RIP. - any issue with that?
2. His Porsche flew through 40 yards of trees. - fact.
3. Friends don't let jackasses drink and drive. - a play on words from "Friends don't let friends drink and drive."

Was what Ebert said really "out there" or "uncalled for" ?? Is it his one word substitution that has fans of the show so up in arms? Ridiculous, IMHO.

As someone who has personally been hit head-on by a drunk driver and also lost friends to drunk drivers , I'll be the first to say what Ebert said was fine. We should all be thankful that this dead loser (Dunn) didn't take anyone but his drinking buddy with him.

See.... Now I feel bad. Your probably right. It's hard to help someone who refuses it. That doesn't mean you don't still love them.

I guess responding to Bert's post got me thinking. How much "reeling" can a family do that saw this end coming miles away? "Numb" is the first word that comes to mind.



I am sympathetic to the family. And they must be shocked at this outcome. No matter what they have seen him do in the past.

Dude, don't feel bad. I am sure that there families out there that enable and just ignore that there is a problem, too. Goes both ways.
