Turning point: Jesse Lansdell scored 4:15 into overtime and the Florida Everblades rallied from two goals down to defeat the Jacksonville Icemen 3-2 in Wednesday night's ECHL hockey at the Hertz Arena in Estero.
Three stars: 1. Cam Johnson, Florida (30 saves). 2. Lansdell, Florida (one goal). 3. Carson Gicewicz, Florida (one goal).
Penalty box: The Everblades (44-13-7-1) scored their regulation goals from Oliver Chau and Gicewicz on the power play, including Gicewicz's equalizer with 98 seconds remaining after pulling goalie Johnson for a 6-on-4 opportunity.
Around the rink: Matt Vernon saved 40 shots in the net for Jacksonville. … The Icemen (39-19-7-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Christopher Brown and Chris Grando. … Tarun Fizer assisted two goals for the Everblades, who now hold a 10-point advantage over the Icemen for second place in the ECHL South Division with only six games left to play. … Florida earned its ninth win on the season when trailing after two periods, the most such comeback victories in the 29-team ECHL.
Up next: After nearly a full week off, the Icemen will travel to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits for a 7:05 p.m. April 2 game inside the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
