Rather play their team at full strength and see how we stack up, that and if we meet them in the playoffs it would be nice to have a game plan to counter what they do to us this time. Or to have the confidence to beat them again after we do it this weekend.

I'd rather beat them now, even if they aren't at full strength, gain home field advantage in the playoffs, and have someone else take a stab at beating them in the playoffs so we don't have to a second time.

I'll take wins any way we can get them. With or without Jacobs, the Giants are tough as nails and if we somehow find a way to win this weekend, that puts us one game back (with a tie-breaker) over the only team I truly think we have no shot of beating on the road in the playoffs and probably an inside track for at least the 2 seed. A rematch with Carolina in January doesn't scare me all that much, but any game in the Meadowlands in late January is a disaster waiting to happen.

that's what I'm thinking, as well as the possible chance that with the G-men's schedule, there's an outside shot that we actually... I can't believe I'm gonna say this... could get home-field throughout. the proving ground will be in the playoffs, not the regular season and with tough games still looming on the schedule for us to prove ourselves, setting up the best possible post-season home-field scenario is paramount to anything else at this point IMO.:claphat:

Good point. Injuries come and go every week. How can some of you be already talking about playing the Giants in the playoffs? You need to finish the season and win the first round game first.

He said in an interview that unless there was a SERIOUS NEED for him that he'd be sitting out the game.

http://boards.giants.com/forums/thread/1046345.aspx

They must not be taking us very seriously. They do have some very good RB's beyond Jacobs but not in the same league with him. I sure hope things get serious and he has to play after that comment. Hey! We crushed the boys. This seems to be the year the ball is bouncing our way. Warner has a QB rating for the year of something like 113. Is that something or is that something? Leads the league. Who would have ever figured that a guy cut by St Louis and the Giants and given up for dead at age 37 would rise like the Phoenix to lead us to a possible playoff berth and to be a strong candidate as a MVP. Had someone told me this at the start of the year I would have called them nuts. I believed in Kurt very much but not all this. The Cubs and the Cards winning Division Championships in the same year. What were the odds on that in Vegas? 100,000 to 1? This may be my greatest sports year of all time if we win the Division,

I think Jacobs is the type of RB we can stop. Not so much with Bradshaw and Ward.

In other, possibly more significant news, Giants' CB Ross might not be able to play. That's HUGE if they're without their best CB, IMO.

Or they don't want to get their star running back hurt in game 11 of 16. From the Giants' perspective, wouldn't they rather heal Jacobs than risk losing him for the year. They have a nice lead in the division.

Agreed on all counts.

Ross' injury is one to really keep an eye on. Shootout!

Most years his replacemnt would get 150 and 2 TD's on us anyways.

Not this year so far.

Seems like the wording alone would make for nice motivational material, as if there was NOT a serious need for him to play against us?

As I always say, you play the schedule/circumstances as they are presented to you.

Until you hear it from Coughlin, it don't mean diddly.

I'd rather Justin Tuck sat out. That guy scares me.

Hmmm...I don't necessarily like that analogy. How'd that division title work out for the Cubs this year? I certainly hope the Cards put up a better effort in the playoffs.

Sounds like an insult if you ask me.

In any event, their other 2 backs average 5.3 yards per carry and 6.7 yards per carry vs Jacobs' 5.4 yards per carry. So there should be very little drop off if he doesn't play.

"I was thinking the same thing John."

Sorry, fellas but I'd rather they be like my beloved White Sox and win the World Championship, rather then follow the Flubs and choke in the playoffs.

BAhaha, only nashman would want to play the giants full strenth rather than helping out our chances at homefield advantage in the playoffs...

Nashman, the board wonder!

I like beating teams at full strength, but right now all I care about is our chances at getting the chance to beat them at full strength in an NFC championship game, here at home. So right now, I don't care how many players they might be down. I'll take any win at this point, no matter who is missing.
