Jacobsen Rejects Offer
Aug 3 - The Rocky Mountain News reports Casey Jacobsen rejected an offer by the Nuggets, which included $75,000 of guaranteed money, to attend training camp.

"I wanted to get more from the Nuggets," Jacobsen told the newspaper. "If they didn't offer more, they didn't want me as much as I thought. I live with my decision."

I like Casey for the veteran minimum better than EP at this stage in his career.

IMO, the Suns are still weak on proven depth at 3 point shooting. I even wonder if Eddie House has signed anywhere and if he could be signed for the veteran minimum. I know height would be a problem for Eddie, especially defensively, but Eddie can definitely provide outside shooting.

If Amare can become a force again inside, there will definitely be some open looks from outside at the 3 point line.

i think the problem was with only getting 75k of guaranteed money.

If Casey Jacobson can get someone to pay him to pay basketball, he should probably take it

IMO, House is a decent regular season player who becomes a liability during the playoffs. Its probably because defenses are better prepared in the playoffs and defend him better. But his play is quite inconsistent come playoff time, I'm really not sure he will be that useful to our team.

The team we have is good enough to have a respectable regular season run--it is in the playoffs that the Suns stumble. I hope Pike uses his height advantage and proves to be a good shooter in our system so he can be of some use in the post-season.

With Banks and Barbosa both secured to long deals, Suns have no room for House. He wouldn't even be in rotation, if on the team

I agree, but Eddie can get time as a role player and he can even win games with his shooting. I can only imagine that Eddie will get a lot of open looks if Phoenix is good inside. Admittedly Eddie is small defensively, but he is still a player that can get some playing time if needed. I guess if I were high on EP, I would not even be talking about Casey or Eddie. Just check out EP's age and declining stats. However, I do think he will keep Burke and probably Marks company on the bench.

Smart move by Casey. He'll make a lot more than $75k by keeping his options open.

I'm sure his agent is negotiating with Euro teams as we speak.

I bet Casey's hot wife is just a bit miffed about marrying a man whom she figured was a lock to be a big-shot NBA guy, only to have reality set in, with its much reduced paychecks and possibly extended stays in Europe, Russia, Israel, or the like. Ouch. Stand by your man, indeed.

His wife is pregnant right now on a side not. Very very pregnant actually. She looked like she was about to burst when they were in Vegas.

A career minimum NBA player will still wind up averaging around 900k a year - thats not exactly striking out...

I don't understand why people on this board get so critical about players who won't even be on the active roster. I know, let's sign Bonzi and Al Harrington for the veteran minimum to play at the end of the bench. Would people on the board be happy if that happened?

Why not try a S&T for Harrington? They may take KT and give them their pick back. Harrington will be better than anyone available in the draft anyways. He's probably one of maybe 3 players that are tradeable that would be better than a top 10 pick.

Do you hate KT that much? KT provides something that nobody else does--and he CERTAINLY provides things that Harrington doesn't provide.

Also, do you think Atlanta would want to deal with us again? Outside of adding more protection to their pick, my guess is that Atlanta wouldn't touch us with a 10-foot pole.

:trout:

1. Harrington is a selfish ball hog, totally ill suited to the Suns style.

2. There are other teams with a far bigger need and more to offer.

3. The Hawks don't want to take back contracts.

4. Harrington would have to agree and he wouldn't want to play behind Amare and probably Boris.

If Harrington is so good, why couldn't he and Joe Johnson lead the team to more wins? He's just not a difference-maker. I wouldn't touch him. Reminds me of Shareef Abdur Rahim. Decent player. Not the kind of guy who makes a big difference in the W/L column.
