Not a surprise, he is ready for the next level. Bring on Eric Lauderdale who like Strong was the top JUCO WR in his class.

How does it work? If he doesn't get drafted, can he come back to ASU for his senior year or if by declaring, he is not able to go back?

once you hire an agent you're locked in. Theres no chance he doesn't get drafted. Even if he has a nightmare of a combine, he'll go in the first 4 rounds at worst.

Although Jaelen Strong had over a hundred yards receiving in the Sun Bowl he did not look like he was running full speed. Maybe it was just me. However, I think his game in the NFL will resemble Anquan Boldin.

I think that's a good comparison. Maybe, Strong is a bit more of a read zone threat, with his hops. But I'm sure anyone would love to be the next Anquan.
At the same time, did you see how many times Strong ran past the corner and safety, and then had to slow down for an under thrown ball?

Will never understand how people can even think about comparing Strong to Boldin. Aside from the physical differences (Strong is 2 inches taller), Boldin is a future hall of Famer who will go down as the toughest WR to ever play the game. There is nothing about Strong to suggest that he possesses anywhere close to that mindset. Boldin looks for contact. He wants to run over you and smash your face into the turf. Strong's game is much more like a Larry Fitzgerald type game... However, I question if Strong has the true physical and mental makeup equal to Fitz, another future hall of famer...

no big surprise by DJ Foster just announced he's staying for his SR year.

I imagine w/ the emergence of Ballage and moreso Richard, as well as the loss of Strong, we'll see DJ at WR more. I think WR, along w/ maybe Special Teams, is DJ's only real shot in the NFL.

Smart move by foster. He is not ready for the NFL and he would have to have an unbelievable combine to even get a chance

Totally agree... and even then it's a long shot... but would LOVE to see it happen for a truly great kid!

I read on another board that Strong ran a 4.55 40 at the East West Shrine game. No link or anything. I didn't even know he was at that game.

As much as it won't happen, I would love to see Strong in a Cards uniform next year (considering Fitz leaves). I know that WR is not our main concern in the offseason, especially in the 1st couple of rounds and Strong will be gone by then. Hope he does well wherever he goes

I fantasize about this happening but you are right, it is unlikely to happen.

I'm guessing the Arizona Cardinals will go in another direction but I think Jaelen Strong will make some NFL team a great wide receiver. He can out battle a lot of defensive backs for jump balls. I think he will go in the 1st round. I wish the Cardinals would give him a good look.

Arizona State receiver Jaelen Strong bolstered his chances of being drafted in the first round

by clocking fast times in the 40-yard dash on Saturday at the NFL scouting combine.

Strong was timed in 4.44 seconds, which is fast for someone Strong's size, 6-feet-3 and 215 pounds.

Strong said his football intelligence separates him from other receivers in this draft.

"I'm very, very smart when it comes to getting up on the board and recognizing coverages, recognizing hot reads and things like that," Strong said.

Well Strong ran a 4.44 in the 40 at the combine. A lot faster than many expected, but that puts him at 14th in the 40 in a ridiculously deep draft class.

But check it out, he was second in the group in the vertical jump with a 42"

Add that to his hands and his height, and he is a very solid NFL prospect. STILL, he may not go in the first round since this class is loaded.

I can still hope he falls to the Cardinals after the first round. IMO, he will be a good receiver in the NFL because of his height and intensity when going after a jump ball.

If the Cards somehow got him, I would be shocked, but extremely happy. I would also be shocked if he didn't go in the 1st round.

I agree. The Cards seem loaded at WR after doing very well in the draft last year. I don't see them spending a 1st or 2nd on another WR.

Should be a good draft for ASU. Randall and Strong should go in the first 2 rounds. Also, D lineman Marcus Hardison should go in the later rounds, but hopefully not too late.

I never thought ASU safety Damarious Randall would get drafted before WR Jaelen Strong. Some team is going to get a very good receiver.

I thought some lesser receivers went before him in today's draft.

+1.

He seemed to be a man playing among boys at times.

Agreed, someone is going to get great value with Strong in the second round. I was hoping that the Patriots would snag Strong toward the end there last night, but it didn't happen. Just hope he lands on a decent team with a good passing system.
