Following the first wave of NFL free agency, the Jacksonville Jaguars' biggest remaining position of need seems to be a fairly obvious one: the defensive line.
Pro Football Focus recently went through and selected the biggest need that still exists for each team and selected the defensive tackle position, specifically for the Jaguars.
"Among players currently on the roster, none of Jacksonville’s defensive tackles were among the 75 highest-graded interior defenders in 2024," wrote Max Chadwick. "Michigan‘s Mason Graham would make a ton of sense with the fifth overall pick."
Mason Graham was already an extremely popular pick for the Jaguars in mock drafts, and if possible, might be even more of a possibility now, given how free agency unfolded.
GM James Gladstone would make nine additions on the first day of the NFL's legal tampering period in an effort to raise the floor of the roster, as he put it. However, none of those signings were defensive tackles.
With the depth of this year's draft class being loaded at that position and the Jaguars having a league-high 10 draft picks, it's not a surprise that Gladstone may be waiting until April to truly tackle this need.
"We're going to have to have some spots that are actually open for [draft picks] to insert," Gladstone said. "So [adding] a veteran at this point could be just standing in the way. We're going to allow these rookies to get a chance to get out on the field and help us this coming fall."
Other remaining positions that we could see the Jaguars prioritizing to a lesser degree than defensive tackle are cornerback, the interior offensive line, wide receiver, and running back.
