Following the Jacksonville Jaguars making several outside signings during the first wave of NFL free agency, what are the 2025 salary cap hits for those players, and how much cap space is now available for GM James Gladstone?

It was Gladstone's goal to raise the floor of the Jaguars' roster through free agency, so he came out swinging on the first day of the NFL's legal tampering period, making nine signings on that day alone. Since then, no other free-agent moves have been made.

Jaguars free-agent signings

  1. WR Dyami Brown
  2. T/G Chuma Edoga
  3. C Robert Hainsey
  4. CB Jourdan Lewis
  5. RG Patrick Mekari
  6. QB Nick Mullens
  7. TE Johnny Mundt
  8. S Eric Murray
  9. TE Hunter Long

Although that's quite a few additions, the Jaguars still sit very well salary cap-wise. In part, more of the cap charges on these contracts have been pushed to years two and three of the deals, but also, these weren't break-the-bank type of additions either, which still provides the Jaguars with cap flexibility down the road as well.

"What we were seeking to do in pro free agency was to raise the floor of this football team, and every player that we pursued and that we've now acquired is meeting that standard," Gladstone said on Thursday.

"And by being nothing more than who they are and who we know them to be, both on and off the field, they're going to do exactly what we had hoped they do. And that's level up this ecosystem."

With help from Spotrac, here are the salary cap hits in 2025 for the Jaguars' free-agent signings:

IOL Patrick Mekari: $6.33 million

CB Jourdan Lewis: $5.81 million

S Eric Murray: $3.66 million

C Robert Hainsey: $3.58 million

OL Chuma Edoga: $2.51 million

TE Johnny Mundt: $2.23 million

QB Nick Mullens: $2.00 million

WR Dyami Brown: N/A ( signed a one-year, $10 million deal)

TE Hunter Long: N/A (signed a two-year, $5 million deal)

The Jaguars still have $45.26 million in available cap space, per Over the Cap, which when compared to the rest of the NFL, ranks as the eighth-most.

So, there is room for other additions, and we may see some here and there between now and the NFL draft, but the Jaguars' roster seems to be largely set for the time being. With a league-high 10 selections in this year's draft, the Jaguars need room on the roster for those players as well.

"We're going to have to have some spots that are actually open for [draft picks] to insert," Gladstone said. "So [adding] a veteran at this point could be just standing in the way. We're going to allow these rookies to get a chance to get out on the field and help us this coming fall."
