Cheng, every other post about jahadi's ball handling have used the phrase "hands of stone"

I mentioned white weights 290 pounds. Has there ever been a 290 pound SF in the NBA? Obviously he thinks Rodney White could weight as much as Jahidi. So I implied he cant read.
Living in east coast, I actually got to see White play at his peak before he got the big contract. While I agree he is not much of a ballhander and passer, his hands are much better Big Jake's. Of course he is no Brand or Webber, but his strengths are his ability to box out, rebound and finish around the basket. And some of you might not know, Washington kept White instead of Ben Wallace during the year Wallace was traded to Orlando. The question is will White be able to keep his weight, or is he another Issaac Austin.

Since when is Jahid White very athletic (I know you wrote that TO HIS SIZE, right?) and since when does he have good hands?

He might weigth 290 but it is all muscle. He has always been in great shape.

I don't want to insult any Jahidi White fans on this board but if I would have to describe his body-type with one word I would rather use the word "fat" than "athletic" or "with all muscle".

White is not fat. He is a big body that can change some shots and rebound. My big hope is that he is a good out-let passer.
This guy also has a nice nasty streak to him, which the Suns sorely need.
The trade is done-now lets wait and see if he can help this team out, before people start bashing him before he even steps on the court.

I'm not disappointed
I, for one, like this trade. Although I can't say that I've followed his career, what I have seen I do like.
We don't need more scoring, etc. I think what we need, in a sense, is what we got.
We need a semi-athletic center who may stop a few players from wanting to drive down central avenue.
How about a bit of protection for Amare?
I think the naysayers on this topic will have to take their words back, but I could very well be wrong.
They say he's only 6'9" but he looks bigger. Also, he doesn't look fat so that's good, and he's relatively young.
On another note, remember Mike Brown?? Hell, we coulda kept him.
Anyway, I think this trade will benefit the Suns.
That being said, we need a coaching change.

What does this have to do with anything? Because the Wizards made a huge mistake in overrating White several years ago, that increases his value now?

Anyone know what White's wingspan is like? To me that is as important as height.
I have had some interest in White over the years, but his lack of improvement has discouraged me about him some. Here's hoping he's a late bloomer. Washington isn't known for developing young talent.
The way I hear you all describing him, he sounds like a young Mark West. That wouldn't be all bad.
Good things about this trade: Another big body, six more fouls to lay on Shaq, fairly young bruiser, we've got some variety at our center position (tall shot blocker, big beefy bruiser, somewhat smallish hustle player), and of course, with Knight gone, more minutes for Barbosa to develop.
Bad things about this trade: cap stuff? (but trying to figure all of that out just make my head hurt, there is so much to it that we don't know).

jahidi is actually an excellent athlete. he's just never learned to effectively utilize his athleticism without fouling.

I have to eat my words. When Bo and Jake were traded, I lamented for a long time that it would hurt us basketball-wise, now we have a trade that is the opposite--help on the floor but bad on the books.
We can al agree that White is more attractive to our team than Knight ever was--especially with Leandro in the wings. Unfortunately, the whole financial issue has really bothered me.

Yes, Jahidi is only 6'9", but he is a mountain of a man - and probably among the top 5 strongest guys in the NBA. He will board well , play physical defense, and surprise you with his shot-blocking. But... his hands - if you can call them hands - are the big problem with him. As long as your offense does not require the center to catch the ball and pass, he'll be fine. His points will come on offensive bounds when he grabs the ball and jams it through - Lord help anyone who gets in his way - unless, of course, he simply drops the ball. His other problem is injuries - which have plagued him since his freshman year at Georgetown. Many were weight-related, which he seems to have conquered. But I think the cumulative effect of all the injuries have taken some toll on his quickness. He's also a fun guy to have on your team - a nice guy. Just keep him away from Burger Kings."

Motivation problem. Hmm, and where did you get that little bit of information? I'm always intrigued by your comments Eric, they usually sound like guesses, but your intellectual style conveys them as being facts.
All I am saying is I know what I am talking about and I thought he did deserve his current contract the time he was resigned. But injuries have caused him to not being able to play and his conditioning is not very good due to injuries or maybe he is no longer movitivated after he signed a good contract like many other big men in this league(Vin Baker, Isaac Austin and Kemp etc).
White moves like an average 6'9 forward but he is much stronger than PFs at 290, fat or not. He has a rare combination of size and mobilty. He singlehandedly destroyed undersized Knicks and Nets in some of games I watched a few season ago. Heck, sometimes his power dunks (often after offensive rebounds) reminded me of Shaq.
It's ok that someone disagrees with me, but shouldn't they give me benefit of doubt when most of us have not seen much of him the past two seasons and not one single game in suns uniform?
