Any see his full page ad in Sunday's AZ Republic? When I first saw it I laughed; then I read it.

It actually brought a tear to my eye (snif, snif).

Even tho his time was up in Arizona, it's kinda like watching one of your kids leave the nest and go out on his own. You want them to get the hell out, but sad to see them go.

Hey, Pinn...post it up!

It was a nice letter. I was too lazy to do all that typing.

Still being a Jake fan and hoping he has success in Denver. I thought it was a class act by a class individual.

I think it was very classy for Jake to do this and I believe he is completely sincere in his comments. I always thought Jake was a good guy but he made me pull my hair out many times during the past years. I do wish him the best of luck in Denver and I hope he does well - except when he plays us :)

I was going to post a thread on this, too. I know that we all had our differences with Jake over the years, and I was one to say that Jake might benefit from a change of scenery, and I hope he does. This was a classy, classy move.

It costs a lot of money to run a full-page, multi-color ad in the Sports Page, especially on Sunday, and I really appreciate Jake for doing this.

The only regret I have is that they had to use an ASU game to get a full-house photo of SDS for the background.

Jake will be missed, maybe not so much on the field, but DEFINATELY in the community. 100% class.

Kerouac- Jake played before a few full houses at Sun Devil Stadium, the best being the game VS San Diego to get into the playoffs in 98.

The picture you refered to, is not in SDS, it's the Rose Bowl game VS David Boston's Ohio State team, in Pasadena.

I believe the other picture is the playoff game win, he started in Dallas.

If you live in Arizona, you know the importance of Rose Bowl games, and Cardinal playoff appearances, much less playoff wins.

As for me, I'll never forget the football Jake Plummer was a part of, here in the valley.

Lex -

I'm from Arizona. Don't hate on me. You don't even know me.

If the "background" photo is of the Rose Bowl (the one behind the text), so be it. It kind of looks like SDS (two bowls, pressbox in the same place, scoreboards), and there was a lot of yellow in there, but what do I know? If it is the Rose Bowl, that's kind if cheesy, since the whole letter is about AZ being his "home," so he should show his home stadium.

I know that SDS sold out for Cards games, but even that Charger game had a lot of Charger fans in the seats. I know, because I was there.

The lower picture is definately not from the Cowboys game, since that game was played at Cowboy stadium, and I think it was at night, and that photo is definately at a day game and outdoors. I suspect it was at the first Cards home game after 9/11/03, considering the banners and everything. Also, there are a lot of red jerseys in the background, and I didn't see that much red at the 'Boys playoff game.

Regardless, this was still a classy move.

I'm not commenting on whether or not is was a pr move, or if it was from his heart.

The sad thing is...plummer like it or not, unfufilled potential or not (probably), he brought us a playoff victory, and because of that alone, it MUST put him in the category of top 5 cards qb of all time..

From the ASU side, he nearly landed us a national championship, and what an exciting season it was that year. Including a thrashing of Nebraska during its mid 90's heyday.

Heck, the only qb that has valley ties to have done more would be Danny White while at ASU..(at least the only I can think of)

Its pretty sad that through all his inconsistencies and bonehead plays, we still have to hold Plummer up on a pedastal and say he is a part of our cardinal lore.

Not that any qb with one playoff win doesn't deserve a place in the lore, just that, he alone(along with that '98 team) make up a tremendous portion of it. At least the section marked 1948-2002, and that is sad.

My point though is that now we have a chance to start over again, with blake, shipp, the line, and a young defense. I think we are closer to that goal than we think.

Hopefully in 10 years we can look back, and some of the guys on our team now will have brought us more for our 'lore' then plummer ever did, finish the job and not just tease us like Plummer did. :)

Jake's time has passed here, he gave us some good memories, and some bad ones too. Even though he hasn't played well the past few seasons, we cannot forget what he did do here for both ASU and the Cards.

I remember watching that last game in Denver when they started chanting Jake Jake Jake....the camera was on Jake, and I was watching his face to gauge his reaction...I saw exactly what I thought....by Jake later mentioning his thoughts....I was right...He wanted to leave...

I hope Jake plays to his capabilities...good or bad...
How can I wish a qb with such a stake in cards lore, to do bad? I can't. But that doesn't mean I think he will do well when I consider his football talents/shortcomings...I do not think he will do too much better there...possibly worse. I only hope he plays to his abilities.

The odds are against him, but EVERYTHING he needs and then some from a team in order to become a good qb is there in place with the Broncos. Its put up or shut up time for him. This next year or two will BE the defining moment in his career..We will finally find out once and for all...was it the cards fault?, or Jakes?, or both?...

It will be interesting to see how all this plays out.

Kerouac- the picture behind the text IS SDS, my bad, I thought you were referring to the picture from the Rose Bowl in the upper left.

I too was at the SD game at SDS. I didn't see any Charger fans.

The bottom picture should be from the playoff win in 98. Jake is wearing a red away jersey, the game was played during the day, and Texas Stadium has a hole in the roof, the bunting in the backround is typical for playoff games.

I don't know, I was in the upper bowl, Northwest corner, and I saw my fair share of Seau jerseys.

The red jeresys are "home" jeresys. The away ones are white. Us and the Cowboys are the only teams that I know that wear their away jerseys at home, because it's hot or something.

I'm pretty sure that the playoff game was a night game, though. Usually, they put Wild Card matchups on in the evenings, because it's a Saturday, and to get more people watch. Also, I still insist that there's no way that photo wasn't taken in an outdoor stadium.
