Jamal Lewis thinks we are a 'big time' FA destination.

I think Lewis is just so pissed off that he is the only weapon on the whole O. They have been trying to fix the Passing game for so long and have failed leaving all the pressure on his shoulders as the whole O, playing against constant 8-9 men in the box can wear a dude down.

Here he doesnt have that problem. Here he just needs to worry the OL getting fixed and the 6-7 men in the box.

Sure get all practical on me!

I just find it unusual (in a good way) a pretty good player is pimping the Cards. I would be very happy if JL signed with the Cards.

JL fits Denny's profile too. Hungry and wanting to prove something!!!

You know what, that's a very good point. In fact, I don't know why I wasn't looking at it from that point of view.

Hmmm, I'll give it 65/35 that he ends up here.

Lewis fits the Green Mold. People in Ravens land are saying that Lewis no longer has it. He is a guy with something to prove and a chip on his shoulder. Plus he won't cost as much as Edge or Alexander.

Can you imagine Lewis in the backfield with Boldin and Fitzgerald outside.

How about adding Vernon Davis at TE in the draft.

Oh My!

We could sure do worse at RB.

Cardinals as a bargin chip again. Why would JL show his "CARDS" before negotiations start? He wants to drive up his price for other teams.

That said I think he'd be a great fit here, if the price is right.

If we sign JL, I think I will be all over the Vernon Davis bandwagon.

Lewis would have to be signed with a low base , high incentive contract. I suggest if we did that we could defer some of his incentives to next years cap, leaving more for this year.
It's hard for me to think Lewis is at a terrible downslide in his career. He's not old. He didn't play that much last year.

2005: Led the Ravens with 1,097 combined yards from scrimmage (906 rushing and 191 receiving) despite being slowed by offseason ankle surgery in 2005...Lewis led the Ravens with 54 1st downs (48 rushing and 6 receiving)...2005 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS: Averaged 4.5 yards per carry, picking up 89 yards on 20 carries (4 good for 1st downs) in the season finale at Cle. (1/1/06)...Lewis also hauled in 3 passes for 29 yards (2 good for 1st downs) against the Browns...Started and recorded his 28th-career 100-yard game with a 22-carry, 105-yard (4.8 avg.) and 1 TD performance in the 48-3 victory in game 14 vs. GB (12/19)...Also had 2 receptions for 9 yards against the Packers...Did not play (hand) in game 13 at Den. (12/11)...Posted his 1st 100-yard rushing game of the season with a 23-carry, 113-yard and 1 TD performance (4.9 ypc), with 9 good for 1st downs in game 11 at Cin. (11/27)...Carried the ball 19 times for 95 yards (5.0 avg.) in game 4 at Det. (10/9)...Lewis also grabbed 2 passes for 17 yards and a TD - his 1st receiving TD since 12/8/02 vs. NO...He also picked up 5 1st downs on the ground against the Lions...Paced the Ravens with 81 yards rushing and a TD on 29 carries in game 3 vs. NYJ (10/2).

Seems to me there has to be some gas left in his tank. Geez, even his mediocre games would have looked good as a CArdinal. Only 26-27 years old and 240lbs.
Sure would be nice to see a guy like this coming in on 3rd and inches...

Absolutly agree. If this guy goes to right situation (which would be us if we significantly improve our line play) he could easily rush for 1300-1500 yards and be the NFL's comeback player of the year.

Could be...

but I don't remember anyone talking up a team prior to FA to push up their price. While they were visiting the Cards they would would talk up the Org but not prior to.

Plus others have mentioned he would be cog in the offense unlike the entire O in Baltimore.

yep.... I'm having a hard time forgetting that 4.38 forty!!! That alone could do wonders for our running, passing, and red zone O game.

It would be nice to see him on 3rd and inches, but it would be freaking awesome to see him on 1st and 10 instead of the guys we had last year. He has less career carries and is younger than Edge and Alexander and might be willing to take a one year deal due to his recent history.

He's really only had one sub-par year as a pro (and that year was better than what our current RBs did last year) and that was after he spent most off his off-season in the slammer. I say we go for it and if Bidwill Sr. tries to play morality police, then Michael and Denny need to lock him in his office or something.

I like the fact that Lewis has something to prove, and he's only 26.

Maybe I'm a bit of a darksider as they say around here, but I don't think Edge or Alexander are coming here. For me, Lewis and White seem like the realistic options.

I agree with this as well. We have publically stated that we wont go after the marquee FA's, Lewis is a realistic option.

Yeah how weird. I was pumped last season that Chike and Hovan wanted to be Cards. I'm shocked Jamal Lewis wants to be a Card!!!! I'm big time on the Jamal Lewis band wagon, he fits the re-tread mold the Cards have been following with Emmitt and Warner. He would be a perfect compliment to JJ Arrington. He is big and can run over people, something he will need to do behind this line. Also don't the Cards want to run a power rushing offense, that was their plan early last season, I guess the bailed on Rushin when they realised they could not run. Anybody who wants to be a Card, gets major props from me

I would be surprised if we didn't sign Jamal Lewis, because he's a perfect fit for this team. A better fit than Edge or Alexander IMO.

First, there's the money issue. G & G have stated that they will not go after a big-time FA RB that would command 7M a year. Well, Lewis' price is probably around $4M plus incentives, so why would G & G's comments include Lewis? They signed Okeafor on a front-loaded 5 year - $25M deal. Why not sign Lewis to a lesser deal in an off-season where they have more money to spend?

Second, signing SA or EJ would mean a feature RB getting all the carries, but Lewis at a lesser price wouldn't "force" Green to keep him on the field at all costs, leaving Green's draft choice JJ in the mix. JJ and LEwis would make a nice combo.

Third, as alredy stated, Lewis fits the description of FAs that Green likes. Lewis has something to prove, because he didn't put up the expected production last season. I don't think that means Lewis is done. I heard an interview on sporting news radio with one of his teammates in Baltimore (Can't remember, but I think that it was Heap), who said that Lewis had been running at 90% all year, because he didn't want to risk an injury. The rest of the team knew this and could understand this, because if we management weren't willing to commit to a long-term deal, then Jamal had to protect himself.

Finally, Lewis would be a huge upgrade over Shipp and a nice improvement to the team.

I couldn't agree more. JL does seem to be the type of player G&G are after. Price range should fit what they want to spend in FA, plus at 26 JL has 4-5 years of prime left in him. JL in this offense woulds be great.

Just not use to FA pimping AZ and meaning it.

I think we get played by Jamal Lewis. I wonder if he will want to be a Card when some of our cap money starts to dry up?
