Gambo just confirmed on his show in the last 30 minutes that the Suns are not shopping Jones to free up money. This is not true and the Suns have all intentions of spending money on Jones. Gambo said there is no trades in the works except to move Jimmy Jackson. All this BS rumors are just not true except for J-Jax.

Two years ago, I'd have completely dismissed anything Gambo said, whether I wanted to hear it or not. Lately though, he's had accurate Suns news before most everyone else - I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Unfortunately, Gambo and Ash are mostly about entertainment. Their "journalism" is erratic and I take most of what they say with a grain of salt.

That being said, I think they have at least one good source within the Suns and am equally convinced that no one one the Suns talks to Bickley. If Gambo simply reported what his source was telling him, it would be worth gold. But unfortunately, he just loves juicy rumors too.

Everyone's got a source with the Suns, but some guys give speculation and some guys give what's being side in BC's office. Sometimes the only way to figure out the value of your source is to stick your neck out there and report something they told you.

Bickley

I don't care for a word that comes out of Bickley's mouth. Bickley is an absolute joke. Why is he even on Arizona radio?

Bickley sounds a bit bitter lately he often dismisses everything the Suns do well.

Bickley has been critical of the Suns ever since he took sides on the Sarver/JJ issue. If you remember, Gambo and Ash were supportive of Sarver and his side of things. Bickley was critical of Sarver and supported JJ's story. Ever since then, he has made a point of bringing up JJ when he has a good game. He also takes shots at the Suns whenever possible.

He's very sensitive for a guy who's job seems to be dishing out criticism. Oh, and he has a rather unfortunate tooth configuration.

Bickley is cynical, negative, and has alot of "holier than thou" tone to his program. I haven't listened to that station in the morning for months. Is he still on in the mornings?

Yup, he's still on. And I agree with you, JC, about the "holier than thou" attitude. He sure lays it on thick sometimes. I don't like him very much, but the guys that are on in the mornings at 1060 bore me to tears.

Bob Kemp on KDUS was all but pushing the Jones trade, although he agreed with a caller that Gooden would not be a good pickup.

Bob Kemp actually admitted something I've suspected which is that he is not a fan of NBA basketball. He "follows it" because it is his job, but that's it.

This comment explains a lot. He simply doesn't care enough to get his facts correct. Everyone makes mistakes, but his were clearly from not actually watching the games or paying attention if they were on.

1. Claimed Shawn Marion Will Return to Play SF When Amare Comes Back: Shawn has been playing SF all season, with Boris at PF. Lately James Jones has been used at PF when Boris or KT is out, since he is better defending inside guys than he does outside guys. If Bob Kemp had actually watched the games, he might have picked on that.

2. Said The Suns Have To Trade Jones To Clear Cap Space To Sign Diaw and Barbosa. Maybe someday, but the most the Suns can do is sign these two to extensions next season, which won't go into effect the following season.

Why deal now? It sounded like he thinks there is some big man with an expiring contract would could be acquired using JJax's expiring contract along with Jones. The two combine for roughly $5 million. Who does he have in mind? He said he was going to say who he thought would be worth getting, but somehow neglected to mention names (as far as I could tell)

I looked through the list of guys with expiring contracts and no one jumps out. I guess Ely would fit at $2.4 million or Tony Battie at $5 million (using Jones and JJax). I'm not sure either are a fit for the Suns style of play.

This last point is something Bob Kemp does not seem to get. He cannot understand why the Suns don't use a conventional lineup.
