The Spurs gave up on James White--much to my dismay.

He has the athletic skills like no one playing the game right now.

While you guys are on YouTube--check this kid out. Granted--his defense is not anything to write home about and is why the Spurs gave up on him.

I hope the kid lands on his feet with a good team. Personally I think he would be great with Phoenix.

I would have loved for the Suns to have drafted him as a project - he certainly has the athleticism to excel in the D'Antoni system.

Under Coach D, James White could wear an S on his chest.

Unfortunately--in SA--your offense doesn't mean a thing if you defense isn't working on all cynlinders. And admittedly, James needs to work on this.

But if the right team gets him--works on him for a couple of years, mentors him--man--this kid would make Kobe Bryant look like an old man.

Dumped by two teams in two years now. Supposedly, White doesn't understand the game well, which is a huge problem in D'Antoni's free-flowing system.

I'd rather have Hassan Adams, thx.

I'd definitely take a 1 year flyer on him.

He was waived so he's an UFA. He's a career hanger-on -- just enough athleticism and skill to entice a team, but not enough to keep him on a roster. He's actually not a bad ball handler for a small forward, just isn't strong enough to play the combo, and no J to play the 2, so he's an unproductive small forward with untapped ... and probably untappable potential. I think he's going on 26. He's too old to still wear the potential label.

i thought james white was supposed to be a defensive stopper because of his athleticism..

maybe james can bulk up a bit and be a marion-type player,
undersized PF with a decent three.

does the suns still have an available roster spot?

The James White listed on ESPN has only played one season so it sounds like you are confusing him with a player by the same name drafted fairly high by the Nuggets about six years ago.

I'd say "no". They need a real big and ideally two.

Yes, as of now Suns need 2 big men. As mentioned earlier, I'd love for Skinner and Croshere to join the club.

As far as James White goes, I have not seen him play. But if he is cheap, why not try??? Prob have to waive Pike to make room, but that's okay.

Amare/Skinner/Marks
Marion/Diaw/Croshere
Hill/Tucker/White
Bell/Barbosa/Strawberry
Nash/Barbosa/Banks

Championship team.

Ironically, the two games he got in with the Spurs last year, he played well particularly his defense. In the game where he scored 17, everybody was raving about his defense. Not sure why he looked so average in summer camp.

A massive bust if I remember correctly. Mid lottery who did not get even a vet min after his initial contract. Kiki certainly knew how to pick them.:billthecat:

Rodney White was picked by Joe Dumars and the Pistons in 2001.

I liked James White in his senior year at Cincinnati. He is a fantastic athlete even at NBA standards and showed maturity also at his shot-selection and improved his jumper. Still didn't attack the rim enough and usually was too calm but I wouldn't mid him with the last roster spot.

Ouchie,

Right you are. I still think that must be who Gadd was talking about.

Sorry I maligned the Nuggets by saying they drafted him - dang, the only thing I got right was the time frame.
