Leicester City have a decision to make this summer regarding Jamie Vardy’s future - Reuters/Andrew Boyers
Jamie Vardy has apologised for Leicester’s season being a total “total s---show” as the club were relegated straight back to the Championship.
Leicester’s relegation was confirmed with a 1-0 defeat by Liverpool on Sunday and it comes after a turbulent season in which Ruud van Nistelrooy replaced sacked Steve Cooper in December and the club make top-flight history by going nine consecutive home games without scoring a goal.
Players such Harry Winks and Jannik Vestegaard have also been left out of the squad after refusing to give up their commute and Vardy, who has been at the club for 13 years, even labelled his own season as a “total embarrassment” in a heartfelt message on social media.
The 38-year-old is considered one of Leicester’s greatest players, having signed from Fleetwood Town in 2011 and played a key role in winning the Premier League in 2016 as well as the FA Cup in 2021.
Vardy’s contract is up this summer and Leicester are yet to make a decision on his future as they begin to plan for life in the Championship next season.
