Neither of those guys is a "special" talent. We've been over this McCaffrey is at best the 3rd best RB in this draft. Nobody will say he's better than Fournette or Cook "special" players aren't the 3rd best player at there position in the draft and nobody thinks Watt is "special". Your picking 13th for a reason it's because we have holes. McCaffrey won't even be the first player from Standford drafted
Doesn't mean much. He could be better than the first two players picked at a couple positions. Again, if you feel the kid has all the intangables, it's a no brainer. You don't worry where the draft experts are rating him. You have well paid experts on your own staff who could have some of his trait ratings past where the pundits rate the two ahead of him.

Christian is a terrific player but I still say he'll fall in the draft for no obvious reason.

white runningback syndrome?

is he related to Ed Macaffrey?...you know, the old broncos wr?

his son and yes as I've said before I expect the lack of good white RB's in the NFL will scare some NFL teams. Just like red head QB's did with the Bengals current QB and some other things.

well if that's Ed's son,...you will never doubt his toughness...Ed was a freak of nature and a hardcore baller.

He's terrific saw him often at Stanford but even coming out of HS he was rated 216th in the country by ESPN 82 out of 100, Scout.com had him the 27th rated RB in the class and both speculated he might be playing out of position, ESPN listed him as athlete not RB. He made a bunch of National All American teams, but people still downgraded for no obvious reason, IMO because he's a white RB.

I love him he returns kicks, he catches the ball, and despite not being huge he can run inside he's tough and he makes the first guy and often the second guy miss.

But I'll be very surprised if he doesn't slip a bit in the draft, NFL teams tend to follow the herd.

You don't spend the 13th pick on a backup running back. Every can agree that Mcaffrey is at best the #3 RB in this draft with Fournette and Cook being 1 and 2. I wouldn't spend the 13th overall pick on the 3rd best player at his position.

TJ Watt He realistically is not rated in the top 10 when it comes to Edge pass rushers. Is he better than a guy like Taco Charleton? Or a Takarrist McKinnley both guys might be there in round 2. Watt is an effort guy with limited upside he's not blessed with the freak athletic ability his brother has. Two very different players

What ever happened to taking best player available regardless of position? Do they still do that?

Not when you have a top 3 player at that position, no.

That's like Green Bay drafting a QB in the first round when they already have the best QB in the league.

Your picking 13 for a reason and that's because we have holes and RB isn't one of them. So your gonna draft a RB at 13 and do what go tell DJ Hey your great but your gonna split time with this guy now. What round did we get DJ? What round was Bell drafted in? You can find RB on day 2

BPA is an interesting theory. However, in the era of the cap it seldom works well. I realize McCaffrey is like an offensive Swiss Army knife. Even so I'm not certain he would be outstanding anywhere but running back. I didn't like this year's undisclosed injury or skipping the bowl game. It brings his durability into question. I'm not certain he hold up as a kick returner; few do. He's a good receiver for a running back, but I don't think he's a great receiver. DJ is quite a bit better. I doubt the Cards want to split out DJ continually to get McCaffrey on the field. So I wouldn't want to draft a backup running back 13th.

I think Watt is very underrated as he is projected as a 2nd rounder. His college numbers are better than his All Pro brother. Someone will be getting a steal, if Okafor bolts I like the three headed monster of Watt - Jones - Golden. In fact, if Jones is franchised and they can't work out a long term deal, Watt could be ready to replace him full time the year after.

U mean like how they got Rogers and he sat for the first 3-4 seasons....;)

Farve was at the end of his career and they held on to him a few years longer than they should have. They pretty much had to draft Rodgers that year considering he went at the end of round 1 not 13

They didn't have to draft him and Farve was still a top NFL QB for quite a few years still. They were still a perennial contender with Farve still the catalyst. Just sayin, it will generally work out better for teams to draft the better prospect rather than fill an upcoming perceived hole. The Cardinals like to fill holes early in drafts for the following year.

I'd have no problem with him in round 2 either. I was skeptical early on but he played better as the year went.

What i like most is that I see his floor as an 8 sack guy, and I believe he has the work ethic to get more than that. I will take a rotation of guys like that all day, especially when we are franchising Chandler Jones. I look at him like Anthony Barr. It takes a hell of a work ethic and football mind to change positions in major college football, especially when Watt did. He will stick.

I wouldn't be upset if round 1 was Deshaun Watson and round 2 was TJ Watt. I think there may be better players, but those are two guys who will stick in the league and play important positions.

I was skeptical and then I saw that highlight video. He definitely has attitude but it looks like he also uses his hands and bull rush pretty well. At 6'5 240 lbs he is not going to be a down lineman. He could however add some strength and be a pretty good OLB in a 3-4. I think someone's going to get a pretty good football player wherever he's drafted.
